Michael “Marble Mike” Ray Beach, 59, of Cordell, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015, in his home. He was born on August 29, 1956, in Fidelity, Illinois. Michael graduated from Southwestern High School in 1974, in Piasa, Illinois. He married the love his life, Rita Castleberry on November 8, 1974, in Carlinville, Illinois. In 1978, they moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, where they had made their home. Michael worked for the City of Cordell for six years, before going to Kiwash Electric Company working there for the past 23 years. Mike enjoyed making marbles, hunting, trading, spoiling his dog, Bandit, and visiting with friends and family. He also enjoyed the time he spent at Kiwash with his coworkers who became close friends and extended family. Mike and Rita did not have any children of their own, but they had many people who became “their kids”, raising some as their own. Many lives have been touched and forever changed by Mike and Michael “Marble Mike” Ray Beach Rita. He is survived by special family friends, Marcus and Kristen Dowell and their children, Katelynn, Kolby, and Kara of Cordell, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Cherie and Jeff Olson, Edgewood, New Mexico; brothers and sisters, Roger and Fran Goodman, Jan Goodman, Terry Goodman, Lee Goodman, Zelma Naugle, and Patsy Scoggins; God-children, Tonya Houseman, Tammy Edwards, Heather Davenport; Rita’s sisters and brothers and their family, David and Lori Castleberry, Farmsville, Illinois, Willard and Karen Castleberry, Atoka, Oklahoma, Frankie Castleberry, Millcreek, Oklahoma, Robin Castleberry, Hettick, Illinois, Allan Castleberry, Athensville, Illinois, Cheryl and Rick Dugger, Palmrya, Illinois, Jean and CJ Sturgis, Lane, Oklahoma, Vicky Castleberry, Jacksonville, Illinois, and Cathy and David Mayhue, Coleman, Oklahoma; and several loving nieces and nephews who were very dear to Mike and Rita He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Helen Roberta Goodman- Thurston and Frank Goodman and his wife, Rita Beach in June of 2014. Funeral services were held Friday, December 4, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, Cordell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Roy Dewees officiating. Burial was held Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at the Medora Cemetery, Medora, Illinois, under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma.
