
Joe W. Spradlin of Cordell went to be with his Heavenly Father December 29, 2016, at the age of 72. He was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to Douglas and Weona (Bonds) Spradlin. Joe attended school in Dill City and attended college in Oklahoma and California. In 1966, Joe enlisted into the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a Sergeant and a K9 handler. After his stint in the Air Force, Joe enlisted with the Selective Service Air Force Reserve in 1969, to serve in the position as Air Police. On March 10, 1993, Joe married the love of his life, Sharon (Gambrell) Spradlin in Bull Head City, Arizona. They made their home in Cordell. Joe worked as a locksmith, mechanic, in maintenance, and he did security for the entire Altus Air Force Base, until his retirement. Joe had a love for Ford Mustangs but that could not compare to the love he had for his wife and family. He loved working outside with everything, he just loved to stay busy. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cordell, and had accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 2014. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Doug Spradlin Jr. He is survived by wife, Sharon Spradlin of the home; sons, Joe Spradlin of Fontana, California, and Brian Spradlin and wife, Jo Cheryl of Burns Flat; daughter, Kimberly Garrett and husband, Mike of Aubrey, Texas; son, C.J. Boaldin of Cordell; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Mary Alice Phillips of Florida; sisters-in-law, Reba Schmidt and husband, Gene of Cordell, and Margaret Demel and husband, Allen of Elk City; brothers-in-law, Leonard Gambrell and wife, Lori of Las Cruis, New Mexico, Geary Gambrell of Oklahoma City, and Larry Gambrell and wife, Leona of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Services for Joe Spradlin were held Monday, January 2, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at Cordell First Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Romberg officiating. Burial followed at the Canute Cemetery, Canute, Oklahoma. Services were under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home of Cordell, Oklahoma.
