Elmer G. Dick was born on October 2, 1922, to Herman Dick and Marie Geisner in Bessie, Oklahoma, and passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, in the Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Elmer was raised in Bessie and graduated from Bessie High School in 1940.
He entered the military in 1946, and spent a year in Germany serving as liaison to the American Red Cross, immediately after WWII.
Elmer returned to western Oklahoma, and settled in Bessie. He was married to Victoria Jakschich on November 16, 1947, in Germany.
They made their home in Bessie, where he spent a lifetime farming, as well as serving as postmaster for over thirty years.
He was a longtime faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church; he loved nature and farming and loved to read and learn.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Helen Jean Goeringer.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Peters, and husband Edmund of Oklahoma City; three nephews, Mike Goeringer, Steve Goeringer and wife, Karlene, and Greg Goeringer and wife, Donna.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests giving a memorial contribution to the Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford or to the Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie, Oklahoma.
Graveside services for Elmer Dick, 94, Bessie resident, were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017, in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, officiated by Jerry Lamb, under the direction of the Kiesau Lee Funeral Home.
