
Atlee Edmund Taylor, Jr., of Midland, Texas, passed away November 14, 2018, at the age of 91 at Midland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Atlee was born on Oct. 30, 1927, to Atlee Edmund and Nora (Snoddy) Taylor, Sr. in Cordell. He graduated from Cordell High School and was married to Billie Harvey in Sentinel, in July 1950.
He served in the Army in Korea and graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in education. He earned the distinction of never missing a day of school during his entire education, grades 1 through college graduation.
After teaching for five years, he began his career as land man with Citgo Oil Company which later became Occidental Petroleum Corporation.
He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Midland and an avid hunter and fisherman. Atlee was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Nora Taylor. He was survived by his wife of 68 years, Billie (Harvey) Taylor.
Billie Mae Harvey Taylor of Midland, Texas, passed away on December 23, 2018, at the age of 88 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Billie was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Texhoma, to Ollile and Wes Harper.
After graduating from Port High School, she married Atlee Ed Taylor in 1950 and had two children. She worked in various federal agencies for 20 years.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Midland and enjoyed Bridge Club, PTA, and PBLA and was also our active in her children’s activities.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Bobbie Vogt and her husband of 68 years who passed away one month before her.
They are survived by daughter Carol (Buddy) Ellis; son Steve (Diane) Taylor; granddaughters Teri (Julia) Ellis, Ginger (Mitchell) Rider, Brittany (Brian) Hochradel; and a grandson, Jay (Jennifer) Ellis. They are also survived by three great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held for the couple at 12:00 p.m., April 6, 2019, in Sentinel.
