Stephen Wayne Bacon 62, of Cordell

Stephen Wayne Bacon, 62, of Cordell, passed away unexpectedly at his home, on March 23, 2019. He was born March 18, 1957, to Lynn Roy & Carylon Sue (Daniels) Bacon in Clinton.

Steve attended school in Sentinel graduating from Sentinel High School in 1975. During high school he stayed busy with his brothers mowing yards, plowing, and many other odd jobs. After graduation he went to work at Styrene Wholesales and Winden Equipment. He drove truck and hauled cattle for Danny Corbin, he also went on harvest. Other jobs he worked was oil field during the 1980s oil boom, Growers Ag, and as Sheriff’s Deputy for the Washita County Sheriff’s Department.

Stephen met and married the love of his life Kim Medlin on March 12, 1982, in Cordell. To this union was born three children: Mallie, Tate, and Aabra. They made their home in Cordell, opening Steve’s Tire and Automotive. After closing his business he went to work for Wheeler Brothers Grain where he remained employed for over 20 years. He retired in January.

Steve was a faithful and loyal employee and made numerous friends along the way. Steve was later diagnosed with diabetes, he battled this disease for many years. To help cope he began the process of getting his service dog. In 2014 Parker came into his life, he was trained to take care of and manage his diabetes. Parker was not only his service dog, he was his best friend and part of the family, where ever Steve went Parker was right by his side. Parker will miss his best friend.

In his free time, Steve loved to make knives and saddles. When he was in better health he really enjoyed working and shoeing horse. Steve will always be remembered for his smile and his goofy personality. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Kim of the home; children Mallie Davis and husband Chance, Tate Bacon and wife Kristina, Aabra Bacon and Michael; nine grandchildren Brennen Glover, Morgan Glover, Channing Davis, Adilyn Bacon, Kamdyn Bacon, Charlotte Bacon, Peyton Garrison, Audrey Croslin and Brayden Martinez; mother Carylon Sue Bacon; and best friend Parker Wayne Bacon.

He was preceded in death by his Father: Lynn “Pud” Bacon; brothers Kenny Gray and Jerry Bacon; grandparents: Ray and Birdie Bacon and Bus and Clara Daniels.

Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2019, and from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019. The family will be welcoming guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church in Cordell, with interment to follow at : Lone Star Cemetery of Rocky.
