Sam McGaha, 59, of Hobart, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on May 4, 2019. in Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 11, 1960, to Elmer Lee and Eula Mae (Miller) McGaha in Oklahoma City.
Sam grew up and lived the majority of his life in southwest Oklahoma. The family moved to Dill City in 1968 and Sam graduated from Dill City High School in 1978.
He married the love of his life, the beautiful Kathryn Petzold, Sept. 29, 1979. Sam and Kathryn had one son, Samuel Lee. Sam settled his family in Hobart in the early 1990s and between work and family life, he served on the Hobart City Council.
Sam was very patriotic and loved politics. He also loved baseball and hotdogs. Most of all he loved his family. Sam was a righteous man. In the latter years of his life he focused on his faith in God, enjoyed contemplating and discussing biblical prophecy, and developed a strong love for Israel. He was not one to suffer a fool but was generous and quick to help those in need that God put in his path.
Sam will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include son Samuel McGaha of Norman; sisters Becky Jeffries (widow of Bill Jeffries) of Moore, Patricia Holt of Mustang, Linda Riddle of Mesquite, Texas, Sue McGaha of Oklahoma City, Kathy Goulden and husband Tim of Yukon, Mila Korn and husband John of Cordell; brothers Doyle McGaha and wife Millie of Granite, John McGaha and wife Peggy of Gretna, Neb.; mother-in-law Rudene Petzold of Hobart; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn McGaha (2007); parents Elmer (1998) and Eula (1986) McGaha; fatherin-law Gilford Petzold (2002); sister Leona Ledford (2009); and brothers Ricky McGaha (1968) and Ronnie McGaha (1982).
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell. Interment at Lone Wolf Cemetery in Lone Wolf. Visitation was from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, and from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019. The family welcomed guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.
