James Louis Treadaway 92, of Sentinel

James Louis Treadaway, of Sentinel, was born to Dave and Ruth (Merrill) Treadaway June 30, 1926. One of 12 children, Louis grew up on the family farm at Cowden. On July 11, 1946, he married Roberta Tipton of Saddle Mtn. To this union, two daughters and a son were born: Joan, Kay, and Jim.

Louis owned and operated the Goodyear tire store in Cordell for many years, where he was an active community leader, school board member, Rotarian and deacon in The First Baptist Church.

On Nov. 15, 1997, Louis was married to Delores Stowers of Sentinel. Louis and Delores were faithful members of The First Baptist Church of Sentinel and enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and Saturday night dances at Cooperton.

After retirement, Louis became an avid and proficient golfer. He played weekly until recently and developed many great friendships on the golf course.

Louis passed from this life May 16, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; grandson, Colin Treadaway; and son-in- law, Max Banks.

Louis is survived by his wife, Delores; children Joan Treadaway of Clinton, Kay and Mike Sewell of Oklahoma City, and Jim and Debra Treadaway of Woodward; grandchildren Amy and Michael House of Edmond, Michael and Ginger Sewell of Clinton, Erin and Stacy Ford of Norman, Nathan and Kelli Treadaway of Woodward; stepchildren Shirley Banks, Gene Stowers, and Jerry Stowers; step-grandchildren Amy and Stan Read, Angie and Eric Gubser, all of Lufkin, Texas, Ali and Matt Miller of El Reno, Cody and Noelle Stowers, Ceason Barnick and Ben, Cali and Michael Snyder, all of Gonzales, Texas, Zack Stowers, Jenna Stowers, and and Blakelee Stowers all of Stillwater; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Doris Nix and JoNell Bennett; and many nieces and nephews.

Funera services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Sentinel, with burial following at Lawnview Cemetery of Cordell.

Services were under the direction of Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Sentinel.
