Angels rejoiced on Friday, March 18, 2016, when Harriet June (Miller) Turner Wesner passed from this life into eternity to be with her Lord and loved ones. She was born on June 12, 1933, to Raymond and Lillian (Gregory) Miller in Oklahoma City. June was the baby sister of Norma Jean and Bobby. Her mother became ill soon after her birth and died when June was only two years old. Raymond later married Ludie Graves, the woman who mothered Norma Jean, Bobby and June and who also blessed them with two brothers, Ray and Mack. The family moved to a farm south of Cordell in 1940 and June went to Mt. Pleasant schools through her elementary years before graduating from Cordell High School in 1951. She was an outstanding basketball player for Cordell. A good shooter, June was offered an athletic scholarship to Southwestern State College. Although June did not accept the scholarship, she put a high value on education and was very proud all her children obtained college degrees. June worked briefly for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) in Cordell before joining the staff at the Cordell National Bank where she worked until her first child was born. On February 6, 1955, June married Doyle Turner, a young farmer she met at worship services. Doyle and June’s first child, Gregory, was born on December 23, 1956. They welcomed Patricia on March 7, 1958, Kathy on November 22, 1959, and Dan on February 12, 1974. During those years, June was an active partner with Doyle in their farming operation and enjoyed her role as a homemaker. No conversation with June was complete until she had updated you on the activities of her children and grandchildren. June had a wonderful singing voice. She and Doyle shared their singing talent, singing often at funerals. A faithful member of the church of Christ, there was never any question where June would be on Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night. She was a devout reader of the Bible and had committed to memory over 100 verses of scripture. June also regularly visited friends who could no longer attend services, took food to many, and was happy to drive others to worship services. She and Doyle were active leaders in the church and helped with the special activities. The church was first in June’s life, providing her with both her spiritual and social needs. June relied on her faith and the love of her family when Doyle died on March 10, 1989. She continued to live in the home she and Doyle shared and also continued to work at the Washita County Election Board. June retired from that position on April 30, 2005. June married Ron Wesner on July 14, 1993. She and Ron loved to travel, sometimes going only as far as the Washita County farms they loved, but other times enjoying trips to football games or to a cabin in Colorado. They loved planting flowers in their beautiful back yard and Ron taught June all about the birds they spent many happy hours watching. Ron and June often hosted their combined family in the lovely backyard, celebrating pretty summer evenings by grilling out and splashing in the pool. Funeral services for June were held at Northside church of Christ on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Burial followed at Lawnview Cemetery. June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Doyle, sister Norma Jean Gray and brother Bobby Miller.
