Iris Sue (Javorsky) McNeil, age 70, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2020, in Denver, Colo.
Iris was born to Adolph and Lea (Wedel) Javorsky on May 1, 1950, in Bessie - the youngest of three children. She graduated from Corn Bible Academy in 1968. Iris then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, having earned a master’s degree in physical education. She did her student teaching in Arapaho.
She married Ed McNeil in Cordell on Dec. 25, 1971.
Ed and Iris lived on the Wedel family farm and farmed alongside her father, Adolph. An expert with numbers and finances, Iris worked as a teller at the Cordell National Bank for many years. Iris also took care of all things financially related to Ed’s business, McNeil Plumbing.
Ed and Iris always loved the scenery and skiing in Colorado and in 1994 they moved to Silverthorne, Colo. They enjoyed walking, hiking, and motorcycling into the national forest that was just steps from their front door and their view of the Buffalo Mountain from the house.
A diabetic since childhood, Iris experienced many complications in recent years. She handled them all with determination and a strong faith in God.
Iris is preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Lea; older brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Carolyn Javorsky; and brother-in-law Emery Suderman.
Iris is survived by her husband Ed McNeil of Silverthorne, Colo.; older sister Inez Suderman of Enid; sister-in-law Melanie (Ron) Jones of Midland, Texas; brother-in-law Tim McNeil of Mulhall; and numerous neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Iris especially loved her fur babies over the years - dogs Sassy and Sandi and cat CJ.
