John ‘Perrie’ Husband

John “Perrie” Husband was born September 28, 1938 to Arthur Woodrow Husband and Edith Viola (Bradford) Husband in Cordell, OK. He passed away peacefully on February 22, 2022 with family by his side.

He grew up in Cordell graduating from Cordell High School in 1956. He married Darlene Labelle in 1959 and to this marriage a daughter, Cindy Lynn, was born. In February 1960, Perrie and his family moved to California. He went to work for an electric company in Palm Springs which was later acquired by Southern California Edison. He started as a lineman, promoted to foreman and remained there until his retirement in 1992.

Perrie loved hunting, fishing, horse racing and gambling. He spent lots of time fishing at the Colorado River, going to the Casinos in Laughlin, NV hunting in California and Kansas and loved going to the horse races, even owning a racehorse at one time. He loved coming back to Cordell to visit his parents and brothers and he and his brothers spent many hours on the patio talking/arguing sports, politics and solving life’s problems.

In 1996 Perrie returned to Cordell to be close to his daughter and grandchildren. He attended many baseball, basketball and softball games and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports hardly missing a game.

In his later years, Perrie enjoyed driving the country roads, “making a mile” checking out the wildlife, spending time at Putman Auction, going to the casino and playing poker with the guys.

Perrie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, A.W. Husband, Jr. and Gary Husband and sister-in-law, Judy Dobbs. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy McGuire and husband, Doug of Cordell, Grandsons Kris McGuire and wife Candice of Lakeland, TN, Justin McGuire and wife Kya of Pueblo, CO, Granddaughter, Michelle Nance and husband John of Cordell and Great-grandchildren, Shelby, Hannah and Sophie Nance, Kale and KyLynn McGuire and Elizabeth, Braxton, Lyla and Drake McGuire. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Deanna Husband, Cordell, niece Wendy Putman and husband Robert of Cordell, their son Rhett and wife Crimson of Norman, OK, niece, Tracy Nichols and husband Kevin of Holliday, TX, nephew Gregg Dobbs and wife Vickie of Yukon, OK and niece Shannon Hill and husband Kenny of Erick, OK.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
