Shirley Ann (Smith) Burkeen, from Cordell, Oklahoma, was called home to the lord after her battle with cancer, on April 28, 2022, at the age of 80 years and 19 days.
She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She was born on April 9, 1942, in Potosi, Missouri to Louis Wesley and Hattie (Moss) Smith. She and her 8 siblings grew up around the Potosi area which she always referred to as the Tiff Diggins near Rabbit Holler.
She married Jesse Gregory, to which one son was born, Kenneth Jesse. She later married the love of her life, Roy Burkeen, and they had 5 daughters: Karen, Debbie, Gail, Chrissy, and Robyn. Together, they had 26 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Gregory of Cordell, OK, 5 daughters, Karen White of Cordell, Debbie Frank and husband, Gary, of Cordell, OK. Gail Chester of Dill City, OK. Christy Hiebert and husband, Jon, of Cordell, OK. and Robyn and Erica Burkeen of Smithville, TX, 1 stepson, Dale Burkeen, of Hayti, MO, 1 son-in-law Trey Lawson of Cordell, OK, 1 sister, Virginia (Smith) Burkeen and husband, Jimmy, of Cadet, Missouri, 26 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Hattie, her husband, Roy Burkeen, 2 stepsons, Steve Burkeen and Richard Burkeen, 1 son-in-law, Al White, 1 grandson, James Hennings, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
