Alma Gaynell Perdue, 85, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was born on March 27, 1937 at the Community Hospital in Elk City, Oklahoma. She is the daughter of Samuel Lawrence and Linnie (Parrish) DeLozier. Gaynell went to walk the golden streets of heaven on August 18, 2022 at Memorial North Hospital, Colorado Springs,
Colorado surrounded by her loving children.
Gaynell met the love of her life Marvin Glen Perdue, while briefly attending Verden High School (1953), whom she disliked while at Verden, Oklahoma. She moved back to Burns Flat, Oklahoma where she graduated from Burns Flat High School in 1955. Then attended the Blackwood-Davis Business school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she received certification in business.
While attending business school somehow Glen reconnected with Gaynell. After thirteen short dates and a fancy Valentines card, he won her heart and they were married on July 21, 1956. They were married for sixty-five and a half years. While her husband was away in the Army, Gaynell worked in Elk City, Oklahoma as a telephone operator. Gaynell also enjoyed playing the piano at the Burns Flat Baptist Church and went on to instruct many piano students until 2002. She has served as a church pianist at several Baptist churches during her career.
Throughout Gaynell’s life she has been a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She also loved many individuals she adopted as one of her own.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25th, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, Burns Flat, Oklahoma. James Gebhart will officiate. Interment will be at North Burns Cemetery, Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing her memory is her children, Lynn Perdue and Cynthia Perdue, four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gaynell is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Glen Perdue; her parents, Samuel and Linnie DeLozier; grandparents, and one grandson.
The family would like to thank all of those that provided wonderful and loving care to Gaynell during her time of need.
