Earl Dean Schmidt

June 7, 1938– Jan. 26, 2023

Earl Dean Schmidt, 84, of Cordell, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at the Cordell Christian Home on January 26, 2023.

He was born on June 7, 1938 to Rudolf B and Minnie E (Heidebrecht) Schmidt in Corn, Oklahoma.

Earl grew up and attended school in Corn, graduating from Corn High School in 1956.

At the age of 14, he worked at United Supermarket and worked his way up to Assistant Manager.

Earl met Charlotte Knauf, they were united in marriage on February 1, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Cordell, Oklahoma. To this union were born 3 daughters. He started his own Construction Business “Earl Schmidt Construction” and also worked for the Cordell Public Schools as Head of Maintenance, the children called him Mr. Fix-it!!

Earl was a member of the Herold Mennonite Church and served on the Disaster Relief Program.

He enjoyed woodworking, helping people with repairs and watching sports. Earl will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors Include his daughters, Rhonda Schmidt, Cordell, OK and Deborah Henderson & husband Craig, Venice, FL. Grandchildren: Jon Broadhurst, Okarche, OK, Erin Hempken & husband, Chris, Yukon, OK, Katiana Holliday & husband, Ray, Buffalo, MO, Morgannah Wilcsek & husband, Cory, CA, Tobias Kremeier & wife, Rachel, Oklahoma City, OK, and Caleb, Henderson, VA. Great Grandchildren: Jonathon Holliday, Ashlynn Holliday, Joslyn Holliday, and Charlotte Hempken. Sister: Maribeth Hardy & husband, Dennis, AZ. Also survived by a host of numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Preceded in death by his Wife: Charlotte Schmidt, Daughter: Connie Broadhurst, Parents: Rudolf & Minnie Schmidt, and Brother: Lonnie Schmidt. Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Herold Mennonite Church, Bessie, Oklahoma. Interment: Sichar Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma
