Joan Aliece Wood

Joan Aliece Wood, 77, of Rocky, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on January 8, 1946 to John and Pearl (Montgomery) Chapman in Turlock, California. Joan grew up and attended school in Harring, graduating from Hammon High School in 1964. After high school she worked on the Ranch. Joan also worked in Home Care and as a Dental and Doctor Assistant. She owned and operated Mode-O-Day Clothing Store in Elk City. Joan met and married the love of her life, Lewis Wood, on October 25, 1995 in Hammon, Oklahoma. She enjoyed working alongside Lewis helping with cattle and farming. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her Husband: Lewis Wood of the home.

Sons: Allen Dowdy & wife Sheila, Elk City, OK; Lance Dowdy, Rocky, OK; Casey Wood & wife Skye, Rocky, OK; James Wood, Clinton, OK; Alan Morgan & wife Sherry.

Grandchildren: Langston Dowdy, Colton Dowdy, Brody Dowdy, Paden Dowdy, Lily Dowdy, Sophie Dowdy, Casen Wood, Jett Wood, Reed Wood, Britney Morgan, Bailey Morgan, Roper Morgan, and Daly Morgan, 11 Great Grandchildren and Numerous other family members.

Preceded in death by her Parents: John and Pearl Chapman, Brother: Louis Chapman, and Sister: Betty Parks.

Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Rocky Gym, Rocky Oklahoma. Interment: Lone Star Cemetery, Rocky, Oklahoma. Visitation: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Sentinel, Oklahoma.
