Joyce Carroll

Joyce Lee Carroll went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 23, 2017, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.

She was born on December 15, 1929, in Gotebo, Oklahoma, to Lee and Rena Barton.

Joyce married the love of her life, Glen Carroll, on August 22, 1945.

Throughout her life she served the Lord and faithfully served in the many roles of being a pastor's wife. Her special love was teaching little children about Jesus.

She was a loving and caring mother to her three children and worked outside the home to help support her family. Many of those years were spent working in the catalog department at JCPenney. She always had a smile and hug for everyone.

She delighted in pampering her grandchildren. All of whom remember grandma's candy drawer and the special treat of breakfast with grandma: Pepsi and Honey Buns.

Joyce is survived by her three children, Glenda (Dan) Glenn; David (Peggy) Carroll; and Philip (Linda) Carroll; eight grandchildren, Leesa, Susan, Jennifer, Kevin, Brad, Stefanie, Chad, and Leann; and thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Floella Rickey; and four brothers, Vereal, Rogers, Winston, and Nuben Barton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Rena Barton; husband, Glen Carroll; grandson, James Lee Glenn; a sister, Lavinia Griffith; and one brother, Edsel Barton.

Funeral Services were held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church Cordell, under the direction of Kiehn-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell.

Mary Virginia Adams Ward was born at Burns Flat (Washita County), Oklahoma, to John and Lenora (Morgan) Adams and was the youngest of nine children.

She was educated in Oklahoma. After college, Mary was employed by the Federal Government and retired from the Naval Engineering Command in Washington, D.C. During her career with the government, she received many awards and promotions in recognition of her work.

Mary enjoyed her friends and associates gained during employment with the government. She was a people person.

Mary was a member of Easter Star, St. John's Methodist Church, National Association for Female Executives, International Association of Turtles, Inc., Red Hatters, and Cosmopolitan Club.

Her hobbies included bridge, reading, dancing, travelling, gardening, interior decorating, and cooking/entertaining.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence J. Ward; her sons, John Ward and Larry Ward; her parents, John and Lenora (Morgan) Adams; three brothers and five sisters.

Mary is survived by two grandchildren, Rachel Mary Rea and Johnathon Lawrence Ward; one grandson-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Christopher Landers, Sr., 41, Clinton resident was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2017, in the First Baptist Church of Clinton, officiated by Pastor David Corley, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. By a prior request of Christopher, his body will be cremated following funeral services. Christopher Michael Landers, Sr. was born on July 14, 1976, to Mary (Williams) Landers- Allison and Mark Landers in Clinton, Oklahoma, and passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, in Cordell, Oklahoma. Christopher or “Bubba”, as he was known by family, was raised and attended school in Clinton. He has been employed by Hamblin Electric and most recently he was employed by the City of Cordell, as an electrical lineman. He also did home remodeling, as well as collecting junk iron and metals. He was quite a jokester and was well known for helping others; he was a Katrina responder, and one of his favorite things to do was frequenting junk yards dealing for scrap materials. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Billy and Sadie Williams; paternal grandparents, Tom and Alberta Landers; his aunts, Barbara Pigg and Trudy Ratliff; and Uncle, Mike Landers; and nephew, Javaris Landers He is survived by his parents, mother, Mary and Terry Allison; father, Mark Landers; five children, Stormi Robinson and husband, Quinton, Cement; Christopher Landers, Jr., Christian Landers, Allison Landers, and Kylie Landers, all of Clinton; sisters, Christian Marsh and husband, Jeremy; Crystal Landers; Brittany Hobbs; Ashley Landers; Cherle McCoy; and two brothers, Scott Langevin and Louis Langevin; and step grandparents, Victor and Melissa Allison. He is also survived by his girl friend, Jamie Smith, Mangum, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Scarlett; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Marla Kay Jackson

Marla Kay Jackson, 56, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away on September 30, 2017. Marla was born on November 29, 1960, to Gordon G (Jerry) and Martha A (Alles) Kilgore in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in Milliken, Colorado, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1979. Her loves included playing volleyball, softball, and basketball. The local schools and competitions peaked her interest with frequent attendance to the games. Marla attended Ames College in Greeley, Colorado, and was awarded certification as a Radiology Technician. Marla married the love of her life, Michael Jackson, in Estes Park, Colorado, on September 14, 1991. They originated their own company, Brazos Associates Inc., acting as a consulting firm for government regulations, and processing. In 2012, they returned to Cordell, and rejoined the family. Michael preceded Marla in death, early in 2015. Marla was a member of the First United Methodist Church, providing secretarial services, and leadership in mission work. She was firmly committed to the community as evidenced by her activities in the Cordell Civic Club. Marla will be missed by all who knew and loved her, including her yorkie companion, Buddy. Her quick wit and compassion surrounded her in the light. There is a beautiful new sparkling star in the Heavens tonight! Marlas survivors include her parents, Martha Longwith and husband, Gene of Cordell; Gordon Kilgore and wife, Joanne of Milliken, Colorado; her brother, Gregory Kilgore and wife, Wendy of Cordell; niece: Kim Hise of Greeley, Colorado; mother-in-law, Dixie Jackson of Cordell; two Uncles, Gerald W. Alles and wife, Pat of Greeley, Colorado; Bill Barranco and Family of Lisle, Illinois; one Aunt, Renae Prish and Family of Casper, Wyoming; special friend, Amanda Lockwood of Leedey, Oklahoma; seven step brothers and sisters; numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jackson. Memorial Service were at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at First United Methodist Church of Cordell, under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home-Cordell.

Michael Ryan Johnston passed from this life on October 2, 2017, at age 69. Michael was born on June 8, 1948, in McPherson, Kansas, the only child of Nadine and E.L. “Jack” Johnston. He graduated High School in Cordell, Oklahoma, in 1966 and continued his education at McPherson College graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1971. He met the love of his life Windell Joan Watkins and they were married on June 8, 1968, and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. Throughout his life he and Joan owned and operated theaters and drive-ins in Cordell, Eureka, Kansas, and Wellington, Kansas. He purchased W-W Reloading in 1988, and moved it to Lone Wolf and operated for 36 years. He was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge #150 in Wellington, Kansas, a member of the Wichita, Kansas, Consistory, York Rite Camel Herders and Shrine, he joined the India Temple Shrine in Oklahoma City, a member of the Swookies of Altus, where he was in many parades in Oklahoma and Texas. He worked as an usher for many years at Shrine Circuses; he loved his Mason and Shrine work, a member of the Eastern Star and a board member for the International Rainbow for Girls earning the distinguished award of Grand Cross of Colors and also served as a Rainbow Dad. He liked to travel to gun shows but he loved his grandchildren more than anything else. Michael is survived by Windell Joan Johnston; daughter, Tammy Morris and husband, David; two grandchildren, Cheyenne and Sheltin Morris all of Lone Wolf. He was preceded in death by his parents Nadine and Jack. Graveside Services for Michael were scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell. Viewing was Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf. Elton Leroy Christian

Elton Leroy Christian, 93, of Dill City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017. He was born on June 1, 1924, to Gus and Lillian (Marriott) Christian in Forty One, Oklahoma. Elton attended school at Port and graduated from Dill City. He met and married the love of his live, Della Jo Green, on May 20, 1944, in the Alexander home near Rocky. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2014. Elton was a farmer and rancher. He drove a semi-truck for Garland Black for many years, taking locally grown crops to market. Then he drove a propane truck from 1972 to 2011. He began employment for Margaret Carpenter, John Strange and Beck & Root. Elton was a longtime member of the Dill City First Baptist Church and was an ordained Deacon where he served in various positions and committees. Elton was also a member of the Holiday rambler R.V. Club. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Elton is survived by two sons, Steve Christian and wife Linda of Dill City, Oklahoma, and Dave Christian and wife Judy of Dill City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Charlotte Stehr and husband Norman of Clinton, Oklahoma; seven Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; Two Great-Great Grandchildren; One brother-in-law, Gale Klump of Clinton, Oklahoma; and one sister-in-law, Opal Lee Noble of Wichita Falls, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Della Jo Christian; three brothers, Kenneth, Archie and Leland Christian; brother-in-law John Noble, and sister-in-law Mollie Klump. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Dill City, Oklahoma. Funeral services for Van Kenneth Nabb, III, known to all as “Trey”, will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Soper Gymnasium in Soper, Oklahoma; burial will follow at the Lewis Cemetery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Trey went to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 20, 2017, in Plano, TX at the age of 20. Trey was born on October 21, 1996, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Van Kenneth Nabb, Jr. and Sheba Renee (Davis) Parker. Trey enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything in the outdoors, including a love for animals. He loved spending time with friends, visiting his grandpa, Sam, in Wynnewood, and eagerly calling upon the knowledge of all his grandfathers often. He truly was what many will remember him as: “an old soul”. He would stay up reading late into the night, and he might even call a person up, just to share a joke. He cherished his books and movies, and one could always count on Trey for random facts and knowledge. He was a member of Archey Baptist Church in Soper, Oklahoma; throughout his life, he was known for his sincere respect for everyone he met, his strong work ethic, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Mary Kindzerski, and his cousins, Curtis Gunter & Eric Cook. Trey is survived by his father, Van Nabb, Jr. and fiancée, Amanda Lubbers, of Yukon, Oklahoma; his mother, Sheba Parker and husband, Chris, of Soper, Oklahoma; his sister, Keeley Nabb of Soper, Oklahoma; his step-brothers, Nathan Lubbers and Tyler Lubbers of Yukon, Oklahoma; his step-sister, Acasha Lubbers of Midwest City, Oklahoma; his grandparents, Betty Taylor of Amarillo, Texas, Royce and Sandy Davis of Glenwood, Arkansas, Sam and Ronda Doty of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Jinnie and Dale Utech of Scobey, Montana, Cheryl Parker of Moyers, Oklahoma, and Van and Jane Nabb of Madisonville, Kentucky; his dogs, Kash and Pig; a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins, as well as many other family and friends. Keith Alan Vermillion

Keith Alan Vermillion, age 37, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at his home on October 19, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. He inspired many lives with his kindness and positive outlook on life. Keith was born June 2, 1980 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Dennis and Lynda (Harris) Vermillion. He was raised and graduated high school in Cordell. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he was also a member of the Northwestern Rangers football team from 1999-2004. Keith was a physical education teacher at Lakeview Elementary School in Norman, Oklahoma for ten years prior to his illness. During that time he also coached numerous sports at Longfellow Junior High and coached his passion, boys’ soccer, at Norman High School. Keith married his high school sweetheart, Amanda (Rice) Vermillion, on July 5, 2003. On December 7, 2011, they welcomed their daughter, Emily Paige Vermillion, who was the most important part of his life. Keith is survived by his loving wife and beautiful daughter, of the home. He is also survived by his parents of Cordell; brother Aaron Vermillion and wife Lisa, nephew, Owen, and niece, Kaylee, of Alva, Oklahoma; grandfather, James Mayfield of Cordell; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Friends and family attended a visitation on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home’s Historic Chapel at 13313 N. Kelley, Oklahoma City and a funeral service on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Memorial Road Church of Christ, Edmond, Oklahoma. A sunset burial service was held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Union Hatchett Cemetery in Bessie, Oklahoma. As an expression of sympathy and remembrance, contributions may be made to the Cara Hobbs Foundation via Clays for Cara or the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation where a scholarship fund is being established in Keith’s memory


Sharon Kay Hayden

Sharon Kay Hayden, 62, of Cordell, passed away on Tuesday October 17, 2017 at her residence. Sharon was born December 5, 1954 to Edmond and Bertha (Sides) Wallace in Altus, Oklahoma. She graduated from Granite High School in 1973 and graduated from Sayre Junior College in 1976. Sharon was united in marriage to David Hayden on September 22, 1978 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She was employed as a Medical Technician at the Cheyenne Hospital for 20 years, then moved back to Cordell and worked at the Cordell Hospital for over 15 years, retiring in 2015. Sharon will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her husband and mother. Survivors include: two sons, Jared Hayden, Clinton, Oklahoma, and Ryan Hayden, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Seth, Lexi and Jack; twin brother, Fairon Wallace, Tacoma, Washington; sister: Loretta Waddell and husband Robert, Cordell, Oklahoma. Funeral Services were held at 2:00p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.

LaNell DeWees Brown

LaNell DeWees Brown, 86 years old, completed her journey in this world and began her new life in heaven on October 28, 2017. She passed away peacefully at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law. LaNell was born Rita LaNell DeWees to Edna VeNora Askins DeWees and Clarence LeRoy DeWees on January 5, 1931 in Cordell, Oklahoma. She attended school in southeast Oklahoma at Consolidated 8 where her parents were teachers and her dad was the principal as well. Her family moved from the Cordell area and she attended high school in Oklahoma City at Putnam City High School and graduated in 1949. While in high school she played bass drum in the marching band and loved playing basketball with a team that reached the state championship tournament her senior year. She also attended Oklahoma State University, formerly known as Oklahoma A & M, for two and a half years. She married her childhood sweetheart, DeVern Lee Brown, after graduating high school, but they went their separate ways after he returned from the Korean War. She later married Charles R. Norris and they had two children together – RaMona Lee and Lantz Michael. LaNell became a single mother to RaMona and Lantz and sacrificed a lot of personal wishes and desires to give them the best that she could. An amazing man, Richard W. Frick Sr., came into their lives and was “Daddy” to RaMona and Lantz until he passed away in 2001. Richard and LaNell were married 32 years. LaNell reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, DeVern and they remarried and lived together in Tulsa, Oklahoma, until his death in 2008. Following DeVern’s death, LaNell returned to Texas to be closer to her children and grandchildren. LaNell was an administrative assistant most of her working life and was a very loyal employee to the Bechtel Corporation, Ebasco, and Houston Lighting & Power when employed by them. LaNell loved her family! She is survived by her daughter RaMona Riggs and husband Chris; son, Lantz Norris and wife Chandra. She had three grandchildren – Calvin Skrivanek, Jr. and wife Kelly of Needville, Texas; A’Lissa Haneline and husband Micah of Midland, Texas; Cordan Norris of Minot, North Dakota. She also had nine great-grandchildren: John Michael Bass, Liyah and Haley Hancox, Luke and Lily Skrivanek (Calvin & Kelly’s children); Hunter and Bennett Haneline (A’Lissa & Micah’s children); Draedyn and Alexa Norris (Cordan’s children). Additionally, LaNell is survived by two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren – Michael Burkett and wife Trish and their children Gerry and Brandon; Amanda Riggs and her children Christopher “Topher” Riggs and the newest member of the family Teagan McFarland. She is also survived by her brother, Don DeWees of San Antonio and her favorite nephew Dr. Nick DeWees and his wife Helen of Houston, Texas. Burial will take place in Cordell, Oklahoma on Friday November 3, 2017 at Lawnview Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of Kiehn-Varner Funeral Home in Cordell, Oklahoma.

JC Shannon Jr, of Cordell, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 59. J. C. was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on January 3, 1958, to J. C. and Loretha (Martin) Shannon, Sr. He was raised in Cordell and attended Cordell schools graduating in 1977. He worked many years around Cordell as a handyman and in roofing and construction. J. C. loved OU sports and he also enjoyed watching movies and had amassed quite a collection of movies on DVD. Keeping his body in physical shape was very important to him and over the years he had become very well rounded in the training of marital arts. J. C. had a very kind and gentle spirit and loved being around friends and family especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, J C and Fannie Loretha (Martin) Shannon. His survivors include his son, Art Parker and wife Bailey of Piedmont, Oklahoma; daughter Felesha Spencer of Hobart, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Tessa, Marley, Braylen, and Brody; two sisters: Jackie La Liberte and Kathy Peters, both of Pennsylvania; two brothers: Steve Shannon of Indiana, and John Paul Shannon of Oregon ;and many dear friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Lawnview cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma nder the direction of Kiehn-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell.

Kathryn Yvonne Gray Tarbox was born January 25, 1948 in Rocky, Oklahoma to Lonny and Joy (Tittle) Gray. She passed away on November 1, 2017 in Amarillo, Texas. Kathy was raised on the family farm near Rocky and was the oldest of 8 siblings. She graduated from Rocky High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1966. She married Michael Humphreys on March 12, 1966. To this union three daughters were born. Kathy raised her three adorable girls in their home on Mimosa Street in Cordell where she maintained a beautiful flowerbed and yard. After the girls were raised, she married Dan Tarbox and moved to Amarillo, Texas. She had a very fulfilling career in the banking industry from the early 1970s until her retirement in 2013. She began her banking career at Cordell National Bank, then later went to work as branch manager at Local Federal Bank in Clinton. After moving to Amarillo, she was a bank officer at Amarillo National Bank until her retirement. She was a member of the Women Bankers Association. Throughout her career she developed lifetime friendships with countless customers and coworkers. Her favorite pass time was spending time with her grandchildren and hosting Camp Gramma. She had a passion for photography that turned into a part time job photographing weddings. She enjoyed maintaining her flower beds and was known by many for her green thumb. She also enjoyed raising chickens and her kitty cats. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling and sightseeing. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; sister Gena Holman; and husband Dan Tarbox. She is survived by her three daughters: Tracey Smith of Plano, Texas; Sherri Waldrop and husband Robert of Cordell; Tamara Christian and husband Paul of Weatherford; eight grandchildren: A.J. Searcy, Parker Smith, Rylee Humphreys Guyton, Trey and Bryce Waldrop, Audrey, Grant and Camber Christian; sisters: Cindy Brooks, Kelli Stratton and husband Jay; brothers: Leslie Gray and wife Karen, Lowell Gray and wife Cheryl; Monte Gray and wife Debra; Robert Gray and wife Stephanie; brother-in-law Eldon Holman; aunts: Eva and Neva Tittle; dear friend and companion Wayne Cunningham; 19 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Service was held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Cordell, Oklahoma Interment was at Lone Star Cemetery Rocky, Oklahoma under the direction of Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home-Cordell.

Dorothy Virginia (Boatright) Mintz

Dorothy Virginia (Boatright) Mintz passed away on October 11, 2017. She was born in Cordell, Oklahoma on January 5, 1928 to Newton and Emma (Miller) Boatright. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Clifford Mintz in 1946 and had two children, Allen and Steven. Dorothy and Clifford began their married life in Oklahoma and later moved to California. They resided in Rio Oso, California for ten years, finally settling in Bessie, Oklahoma in 1980. Dorothy worked as a homemaker and medical assistant for most of her life, later returning to school to receive her nursing degree. She retired from the Veterans Hospital in Clinton, Oklahoma. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Mintz in 1982. She is survived by her loving family, Allen Mintz and Nancy Hoskins, Steven and Katie Mintz, five Grandchildren, Rebecca and Andrew Gillespie, Craig and Stefani Mintz, Rachael and Garrett Elms, Kristin and Luther Mitchell and Emily and Sam Daddow, and also eight Great Grandchildren, Audrey, Gage, Sophia, Carrigan, Maddox, Hank, Layla and Corbin.

Funeral Services for Lynn Allen, 91, Dill City resident was held 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 6, 2017 at the 5th and Roach Church of Christ in Dill City, Oklahoma officiated by Rod Milner and Gannt Carter. Burial followed in the South Burns Cemetery, South of Burns Flat under the direction of the Kiesau-Leae Funeral Home in Clinton. Lynn Curtis Allen was born June 25, 1926 to Fred C. and Ora Ida (Lane) Allen in Port, Oklahoma and passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in the Cordell Christian Home in Cordell, Oklahoma. Mr. Allen was raised in Greer County where he started school. He enlisted in the Army when he was only 16 years old and was released early. When he was 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served during WWII. After his Honorable discharge he returned to Washita County and completed his schooling, graduating from Burns Flat High School. He was married to Norma Jean Reed December 15, 1946. They made their home in Elk City, later moving to Park County, Wyoming, for a short time. They returned to Washita County in 1950. They purchased a home in Dill City. He and his wife had a farming operation where they raised cows, grew cotton and wheat and did custom harvesting for several years. He was also employed as a Civil Service Worker for over 15 years. Mrs. Allen preceded him in death in 2003. He has been a longtime active and faithful member of the Church of Christ where he served first as Deacon and then as an Elder. He was a member of the American Legion. He loved the outdoors and working with his cattle. He also enjoyed traveling, but his passion was the time he spent with family. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Linda Carol Kennett, four brothers, Corky, Carl, Tad and “Snooks” and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Louise Fenning. He is survived by a son, Michael Allen and wife, Brenda, Dill City, Oklahoma; Shelley Smith and husband, Eddie, Elk City; and brother, Robert Allen of Clinton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Diana Rae Apt, 59, of Sentinel, Oklahoma passed away on November 7th, 2017. She was born on October 31, 1958 to Thomas Ray and DeLeta (Dew) Caudill in Sentinel, Oklahoma. Diana grew up and attended school in Sentinel graduating in 1976. She met and married the love of her life James Apt, and was blessed to be a stay at home mom. Diana was a member of the United Methodist Church and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband: James Apt of the home parents: Thomas Caudill andwife DeLeta of Sentinel, Oklahoma two sons: Levi Fry andwife Kristi of Sentinel, Oklahoma Tommy Harris and wife Darlene of Rocky, Oklahoma three daughters: Sarah Morrow of Sentinel, Oklahoma Jessica Ney and husband Roger of Magnolia, Texas Sarah Apt of Fritch, Texas 10 grandchildren: Avery Ramirez, Devon Harris, Delaney Britton, Hunter Fry, Lauren Fry, Sutton Fry, Gabby Harris, Riggs Harris, Ann Belle Bishop, and Merideth Ney Joined in death by Nevaeh Horn; granddaughter Preceded in death by: grandparents: Denby and Nadine Caudill and Dine and Oleta Dew Funeral Services were held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 11, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, Sentinel, Oklahoma. Interment was at the Sentinel Cemetery, Sentinel, Oklahoma Services under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, Sentinel Oklahoma.

Bobby F. Hardwick passed from this life on November 8, 2017, in Oklahoma City at age 79. Bobby was born on June 6, 1938, in Berryville, Arkansas, to J.W. Hardwick and Omah (Eden) Hardwick. He spent his early school years at Rocky and was a graduate of Dill City High School in 1957. Bobby married Bonnie Faye Knisley on October 29, 1964, in Dill City. Bobby was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dill City. Bobby enjoyed working on the farm near Dill City raising cattle, wheat and cotton. Bobby also worked for over 25 years and retired from Cordell Schools as a bus driver and custodian. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, going to auctions, and going uptown to get the latest news in the coffee shop. Bobby is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home, one daughter Brenda Medlock and husband Jeff of Ponca City, Okla., two sons; Brad Hardwick and wife Larkann of Cordell, Okla., and Benjamin Hardwick and wife Dana of Edmond, Okla., one brother Nolan Hardwick of Irving, Texas, one sister Irene McClure and husband Bill of Enid, Okla. Bobby leaves a legacy of four grandchildren; Krischa Miller and husband Kurtis and Korinne Taylor and husband Jacob, Rebecca and Nathan Hardwick and one great-grandson Kysan Miller and numerous, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents J.W. and Omah, two sisters Eilene Wrinkle, (twin of Irene) and Ruby Whitener and one brother, Roy Hardwick (twin of Ruby). Services for Bobby were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Dill City Baptist Church with Pastor Kris Ramber officiating and interment following at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell. Funeral Service for Lucille Beech, Cordell resident, was held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Cordell, officiated by Dr. Marvin Hudson. Burial followed at the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell. Lucille Leran Beech was born December 23, 1915 in Texas to Ora and Frankie (Brown) Phillips and passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in Cordell, Oklahoma. Lucille was raised in Texas and attended school there. She moved to Cordell, Oklahoma in 1928, where she and her family farmed. Lucille married Lovell Beech in 1935 in Cordell, where they farmed and she worked with her husband as well as taking care of the hired hands by cooking and making sure they were fed. She worked for Robertson’s Factory and the Booster Bag’s and later she worked in Nursing Homes as a Dietitian. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cordell. Lucille enjoyed sewing, gardening, and she was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Emmalene Harris and Peggy Issacson; brothers, Willie Phillips, J.C. Phillips, Leon Phillips, Buck Phillips, and Jr. Phillips. Lucille is survived by her sons, Jerry Beech, Cordell, and Johnny Beech and wife Judy, Edmond, also survived by her grandchildren Whittney Hood and husband Josh, Edmond, and Jordan Beech and wife Kimberly, Shawnee.

Everett Richard Black

Everett Richard Black, 95, a long time resident of Burns Flat, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on November 17th, 2017. He was born December 3rd, 1921 in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Everett joined the United States Army on June 13, 1942, and served till January 17, 1946. After serving his country, he worked in the coal mines. Soon after he met the love of his life, Janet VanFossen and the two were married on November 1, 1987 in East Liverpool, Ohio. Everett and Janet made their home in Burns Flat, Oklahoma to be close to family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20th, 2017 at the North Burns Cemetery, Burns Flat, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home-Cordell, Oklahoma.

Bonny Fay Bence

Bonny Fay Bence, former resident of Dill City, passed away on November 16, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. Bonny was born a New Year’s Baby in 1941 to Clyde and Leatha Rushing. She graduated from Burns Flat High School in 1959. She married Verlon Bence, and had two sons, making their home in Dill City until the mid 1990’s when they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bonny Fay touched the hearts of many everywhere she went in her 76 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brother, Clyde Edward and Elvin Rushing. She is survived by her husband, Verlon, two sons, Kevan Bence and wife Charlotte and Kris Bence, all of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren, Daniel, Ronnie, Marie and Mike, one sister, Betty Elliott and husband Marvin Elliott of Canute, Oklahoma, one brother, Ray Rushing of Midwest City, Oklahoma, one niece, Sue Wallin and five nephews, Tommy, Craig, and Dennis Elliott and Jeremy and Jason Rushing. Graveside services will be held December 2, 2017 at 1 P.M. at the South Burns Cemetery, Dill City, Oklahoma.

Sidney E. Deputy, age 81, died Sunday, November 26, 2017 after battling Parkinson’s. Visitation will be at the home of Kay Deputy, Thursday, November 30, from 6 – 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 2, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount, in Amarillo, TX. Sid was born September 22, 1936, in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cordell High School in Cordell, Oklahoma. Sid married Kay McKibbin in July 1957, in Dumas, Texas, They moved to Amarillo in 1958, where he lived and worked most of his life. He worked for the United States Postal Service from 1963 – 1969. Sid graduated from WTSU in 1971, and began teaching at Highland Park School until he retired in 1997. Sid loved his family, camping, and fishing. He and Kay spent most summer months each year camping in Durango, Colorado. They also enjoyed taking cruises to various places. Sid is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kay, and children; Diana Christian and husband Joe, Lisa Malone and husband Todd, and Kurt Deputy and wife Tonya, along with ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. Sid was preceded in death by three brothers; William, Robert, and Lloyd. Also preceding him are two granddaughters; Mikenze and Gracie Deputy.
