Patricia Ann Wilson Hardin entered this world March 23, 1945, to parents Winford Loran Wilson and Dorothy Garrison Wilson. She departed this world September 6, 2016. She grew up in the Golden Acres community in Shawnee, Oklahoma. In 1956, the family moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma, so the parents could be closer to their work. Ann graduated from Midwest City High School in 1963, and joined the Navy Waves in 1964. She was chosen as a poster girl along with another wave and several sailors for a Navy recruitment brochure. During her time in the Navy she spent time in Germany and Hawaii, as well as Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 1973, they adopted a daughter, Winifred Lorraine, known as Wendi. The family moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where Ann bought a trophy shop. In the late 1980s, she sold the shop and moved to Oklahoma City, where she worked as business manager for many years at Continental Deli Foods. As a young girl her father bought her a ukulele which she taught herself to play and years to follow learned to play the keyboard, guitar and mandolin. At one time she played with a small band. She wrote and or co-wrote a number of songs and recorded three CDs. Through the years she taught young kids to play the guitar. Music was her passion and was invited to perform at many different venues. She was a member of the Oklahoma Songwriters and composers association. During her time in the association she was president and later on treasurer. Ann was a fun loving person, always had a smile on her face and made friends easily. She would help anyone in anyway. She enjoyed entertaining residents in nursing homes in Oklahoma and Texas. I don't think she ever met a stranger. In 2000, she married Mike Hardin, overlooking a beautiful valley in Colorado, and spent their honeymoon camping out on a beautiful stream. They made their home in Cordell, Oklahoma. When they weren't traveling she helped in the business. In the summers they would spend as much time as they could in Colorado and for three years took care of a primitive campground. She loved the mountains so much she could care less if she went to town. In the winter they would stay in Aransas Pass, Texas. After Ann was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, in 2008, they continued to travel until 2011, at which time they settled in Aransas Pass. She was preceded in death by her parents. Ann’s survivors include her loving husband, Mike; daughter, Wendi, Norman, Oklahoma; sisters, Trayce Cox (Carl) of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Norma Price (Don Youngblood) of Wichita Falls, Texas; brother, Don Wilson (Marie) of Wilson, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Logan and Noah of Norman Oklahoma; several cousins, nieces and nephews; two step daughters, Kim Mele (Jason) of Weatherford, Texas, and Angela Cox (Larry) of Weatherford, Texas; grandsons, Tyler, Braden, and Beldon; one great- grandson Zayden; and a whole host of friends. We want to give special thanks to the nurses and CNA's at the Lexington Place Nursing and Rehab. They are very caring people. Also a special thanks to Christus Hospice. The family asks that memorials be made to your favorite charity. Visitation was held on Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. A graveside service with Military Honors was held Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
