
Brenda Karol (Holman) Messenger, 60, went to heaven Saturday, October 29, 2016, with family by her side at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brenda was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma, on November 5, 1955, to Laverne (Chambers) Holman Lundy and Ben Holman. She graduated from Cordell High School in 1974. Brenda attended the University of Central Oklahoma following high school. After graduating from Paul's Cosmetology in Oklahoma City, Brenda worked in Oklahoma City and Cordell. She moved to South Fork, Colorado, in 1985, where she met her future husband. Brenda married Russ Messenger August 29, 1986, in South Fork, Colorado. They lived in South Fork, until 1988, when they relocated and made their home in Las Vegas. Brenda was the mother of two daughters, Kelli and Lindsey. She was an exceptional mother and would tell you her proudest accomplishment was raising her girls. Brenda was active in spreading awareness for Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, that was very dear to her heart. She is survived by husband, Russ Messenger, of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughters, Kelli Messenger of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lindsey Messenger, of Boise, Idaho; mother, Laverne Lundy, of Cordell, Oklahoma; brothers, Larry and (Jeri) Dawson, of Moore, Oklahoma, Randy and (Gretchen) Holman, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Scott and (Lisa) Holman, of Clinton, Oklahoma, Larry Lundy, of Oklahoma City, Gary and (Traci) Lundy, of Oklahoma City, LeRoy Lundy, of Cordell, Oklahoma, Ronnie Lundy, of Cordell, Oklahoma, and Randy Lundy, of Oklahoma City; sister, Nova and (Byron) Johnson, of Central Point, Oregon; mother and father-in-law, Blanche and Wallace Messenger, of Valentine, Nebraska; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Ben Holman; stepfather, Loyd Lundy, and brothers, Stanley Holman and Bernie Holman. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 102 E. 2nd Street, Cordell, Oklahoma, at 10:00 a.m., November 21, 2016.
