Calvin D. Burch

Calvin D. Burch, 66 of Cordell, passed from his life on Wednesday June 14, 2017, at his home. Calvin was born on October 23, 1950, in Cordell. He was the son of Norval Lee and Bonnie Jean (Cochran) Burch. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cordell. He attended Cordell Schools and was a member of the FFA Chapter and played the saxophone in the school band. Calvin married Delores Ivy in 1969, and to this union they had two children. He farmed with his family for several years in Washita county before moving to Southwestern Missouri in 1984. While living in Missouri, Calvin farmed, custom hay baled and operated an automotive repair business. Calvin was an avid collector of many things, but he truly enjoyed collecting guns, RC planes, and classic cars. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his best friend Roger Britton. He loved watching old westerns, and was always ready for a good BBQ with family and friends. Calvin was also very fond of his chihuahua Scooter who spent countless hours by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Norval Lee and Bonnie Jean (Cochran) and one brother, Norman Lee Burch. Survivors include his daughter, Lorie Brookman and husband, Buddy of Joplin, Missouri; one son, Tommy Burch of Neosho, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brayden, Madison, and Katherine; three brothers, David Burch and wife, Debbie of Cordell; Keith Burch and wife, Karri of Cordell; Paul Burch of Fairland, Oklahoma; a very close friend Roger Britton and wife, Rita of Cordell; and a host of dear nieces and nephews. Services were entrusted with Kiehn-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell. They will conduct a private family memorial service at a later date.
