Pauline Humphrey

Pauline Humphreys was born on November 2, 1925, to Ida Madden and Millard F. Madden in Booneville, Arkansas. She passed away on June 20, 2017, in Cordell. At a very young age her family moved from Arkansas to western Oklahoma near the Elk City area. She met the love of her life Elmer Humphreys, and, after a brief courtship, they married on December 20, 1943, in Cordell, Oklahoma, just days before he was called away to war. Pauline spent most of her life as a homemaker except for her treasured days at the Elk City hospital working as a nurse and also worked at the Federal Crop Insurance office in Cordell. She was very well known for her beautiful flowers. In addition to creating a showplace out of their country home, she managed to earn "Yard of the Week" with her potted plants after moving into town to a condo with no "yard". Pauline was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will long be remembered for her words of wisdom, her stunning beauty, and her infectious laugh. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer Humphreys, five brothers, three sisters, and infant daughter Patricia Layne. Pauline is survived by two sons, Michael and wife, Judy Humphreys of Afton, Oklahoma; Perry Humphreys of Jones, Oklahoma; daughterin- law, Kathy Tarbox of Amarillo, Texas; four granddaughters, Tracey Smith of Flowood, Mississippi; Sherri and husband, Robert Waldrop of Cordell; Tamara and husband, Paul Christian of Weatherford; Jessica and husband, Brandon Beavers of Guthrie, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, AJ Searcy, Parker Smith, Rylee Humphreys Guyton; Trey and Bryce Waldrop; Audrey, Grant and Camber Christian; and Arden Beavers; sister, Idell Holman of Rocky, Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 24, 2017, in the Chapel at Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Hobart, Oklahoma. Burial was at the Lone Star Cemetery at Rocky, Oklahoma. Services were under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home of Cordell.
