Lesley “Bubba” Dan Baldwin

Lesley "Bubba" Dan Baldwin, age 56, passed from this life suddenly on July 19, 2017, in Cordell. Bubba was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, on July 10, 1961, to Dale and Peggy (McCormick) Baldwin. Bubba was raised in Cordell where he attended Cordell Public Schools and played football and baseball. He graduated with the class of 1980. He worked several years at Cordell Lumber and 17 years in shipping and receiving at Robertson’s Factory in Cordell. Bubba started working for Cordell Public Schools as the school custodian in the early 1990's. He was loved and is remembered by many teachers and many, many students. During the Summer months Bubba was always seen around town setting up and selling his family's produce and watermelons. Bubba was a cowboy at heart and he liked to take the back roads always looking to find a good local rodeo. He was also an avid OU sports fan, loved the Dallas Cowboys, but he cherished the Cordell Blue Devils and the Lady Blue Devils. He would follow them many, many miles to every football field, ballpark, and gymnasium in Oklahoma. He just loved to support the local kids and knew them all by name. Bubba never met a stranger and he would always threaten to put you in your place by saying "don't make me whoop you". Everyone always knew that it was a friendly gesture and he was deeply loved by the entire community. He was a friendly person with a big heart that enjoyed being around people and friends. Most of all, Bubba loved being with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Kammey Baldwin in 2012. Bubba is survived by his parents Dale and Peggy Baldwin of Cordell; one sister, Tammey Christian and husband, Daniel of Clinton; one brother, DeWayne Baldwin and wife, Denise of Edmond; his nieces and nephews, Nathan, Chris, Telisha, Sierra, and Breann; and one great nephew, Reece. He is also survived by a host of extended family and dear friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., in the Cordell Auditorium followed by an interment at Lawnview Cemetery. Under the direction of Kiehn- Varner Funeral Home of Cordell.
