Dessie Roberta Meier passed from this life on July 14, 2017, at her home at age 98. She was born on March 20, 1919, in Bessie, Oklahoma, to Buel Allen and Edna (Watson) Allen. Dessie was one of twelve children. She grew up and resided all of her life in Bessie. She was a partner to Gilbert in the farming operation, Sunday school teacher both at Bessie and Burns Flat, taught upholstery at the Vo-Tech in Burns Flat and her upholstery shop was proudly located in the chicken house. Dessie was very active in the Home Demonstration Club; she received her 50 year pin. Dessie’s club was “The Better Neighbors” and yes she was a great neighbor to have. She loved to garden, entertain and cook. Dessie was the most remarkable cook. When her hands touched dough something magical happened, (she made the best cinnamon rolls ever), but the most important thing to Dessie was her relationship with God. She taught Sunday School classes from the age of 16 to 95. Dessie is survived by her two sons; Montell Meier and wife, Patti of Paris, Texas and Bobby Meier of Bessie; daughters Louisa Ann Loper of Chandler, and Patricia Rowe and husband, Larry of Choctaw. She leaves a legacy of five grandchildren; Sherri Newport, Michael Loper, Mace Meier, Karri Lockhart and Darrell Rowe; twelve great-grandchildren, five greatgreat grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Dessie was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; her parents, Buel and Edna Allen; son-in-law, Ray Loper and all of her brothers and sisters. Graveside Services for Dessie were Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Union Hatchett Cemetery. On-line condolences can be made for Dessie by visiting www.peoplescooperativefuneralhome.com
