Marla Kay Jackson

Marla Kay Jackson, 56, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away on September 30, 2017. Marla was born on November 29, 1960, to Gordon G (Jerry) and Martha A (Alles) Kilgore in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in Milliken, Colorado, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1979. Her loves included playing volleyball, softball, and basketball. The local schools and competitions peaked her interest with frequent attendance to the games. Marla attended Ames College in Greeley, Colorado, and was awarded certification as a Radiology Technician. Marla married the love of her life, Michael Jackson, in Estes Park, Colorado, on September 14, 1991. They originated their own company, Brazos Associates Inc., acting as a consulting firm for government regulations, and processing. In 2012, they returned to Cordell, and rejoined the family. Michael preceded Marla in death, early in 2015. Marla was a member of the First United Methodist Church, providing secretarial services, and leadership in mission work. She was firmly committed to the community as evidenced by her activities in the Cordell Civic Club. Marla will be missed by all who knew and loved her, including her yorkie companion, Buddy. Her quick wit and compassion surrounded her in the light. There is a beautiful new sparkling star in the Heavens tonight! Marlas survivors include her parents, Martha Longwith and husband, Gene of Cordell; Gordon Kilgore and wife, Joanne of Milliken, Colorado; her brother, Gregory Kilgore and wife, Wendy of Cordell; niece: Kim Hise of Greeley, Colorado; mother-in-law, Dixie Jackson of Cordell; two Uncles, Gerald W. Alles and wife, Pat of Greeley, Colorado; Bill Barranco and Family of Lisle, Illinois; one Aunt, Renae Prish and Family of Casper, Wyoming; special friend, Amanda Lockwood of Leedey, Oklahoma; seven step brothers and sisters; numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jackson. Memorial Service were at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at First United Methodist Church of Cordell, under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home-Cordell.
