
Michael Ryan Johnston passed from this life on October 2, 2017, at age 69. Michael was born on June 8, 1948, in McPherson, Kansas, the only child of Nadine and E.L. “Jack” Johnston. He graduated High School in Cordell, Oklahoma, in 1966 and continued his education at McPherson College graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1971. He met the love of his life Windell Joan Watkins and they were married on June 8, 1968, and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. Throughout his life he and Joan owned and operated theaters and drive-ins in Cordell, Eureka, Kansas, and Wellington, Kansas. He purchased W-W Reloading in 1988, and moved it to Lone Wolf and operated for 36 years. He was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge #150 in Wellington, Kansas, a member of the Wichita, Kansas, Consistory, York Rite Camel Herders and Shrine, he joined the India Temple Shrine in Oklahoma City, a member of the Swookies of Altus, where he was in many parades in Oklahoma and Texas. He worked as an usher for many years at Shrine Circuses; he loved his Mason and Shrine work, a member of the Eastern Star and a board member for the International Rainbow for Girls earning the distinguished award of Grand Cross of Colors and also served as a Rainbow Dad. He liked to travel to gun shows but he loved his grandchildren more than anything else. Michael is survived by Windell Joan Johnston; daughter, Tammy Morris and husband, David; two grandchildren, Cheyenne and Sheltin Morris all of Lone Wolf. He was preceded in death by his parents Nadine and Jack. Graveside Services for Michael were scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell. Viewing was Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf.
