
Funeral services for Ruby Isabelle Thiessen, 93-yearold Eakly, Oklahoma resident, were held Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Assembly of God Church in Eakly, Oklahoma with Pastor Michael McDaniel officiating. Burial followed in Eakly Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Ruby was born June 24, 1924, in Cordell, Oklahoma to Arthur Justin and Rufina Frances (Sandefer) Newton. She was called home to her beloved Savior on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma. Ruby was raised and attended school in Cordell, Oklahoma. On November 15, 1942, she married Jesse Louis Bowen in Cordell. Ruby worked as a Nanny for many years before becoming a CNA, (Certified Nursing Assistant). She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Cordell Memorial Hospital for 15 years and assisted with numerous newborns during this time. On July 7, 1978, Ruby married Roy Thiessen in Mustang, Oklahoma, that made them a combined family of eleven children and made their home on the farm near Colony, Oklahoma. They lived in Cordell until 1985, when they moved to Eakly, Oklahoma. Ruby enjoyed embroidering, reading, attending church, needlepoint, painting, cats, and collecting owls. She will be remembered as a “Great Prayer Warrior” and Grandma Ruby to Eakly or Grandma “Uby” to many of the grand and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Gideon’s Bible or to the Assembly of God – Missions Fund. Ruby is survived by eleven children, James Bowen and his wife Jane of Moore, Oklahoma, Teddy Bowen and his wife Carol of Willow Park, Texas, Marsha Harty of Lawton, Oklahoma, Lee Fite of Duncan, Oklahoma, Kaye Whitehead of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dean Thiessen and his wife Linda of Colony, Oklahoma, Ron Thiessen and his wife Ruth of Washita, Oklahoma, Donna Pearcy and her husband Gale of Colony, Oklahoma, Larry Thiessen and his wife Paula of Eakly, Oklahoma, Gary Thiessen of Joplin, Missouri, and Troy Thiessen and his wife Sandra of Joplin, Missouri. She is also survived by one sister, Norma Walker of El Reno, Oklahoma, 27 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy Thiessen, four brothers, Al, Leo, A.J. and Jesse, one sister, Esther and two granddaughters, Julie Harty and Dana Clark.
