Robert Joe Nickel

Robert “Bob” Nickel, of Cordell, Oklahoma entered his Heavenly home on April 4, 2018 at the age of 74. Bob’s service was at 10:00 am, Monday April 9 at Herold Mennonite Church in Bessie, Oklahoma with Reverend R. B. Mathis Officiating. Bob was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on January 11, 1944 to Edwin and Darlene Nickel of Cordell, Oklahoma and grew up on the farm outside of Bessie. He attended school in Flynn, Cordell and Oklahoma Bible Academy in Meno. Bob was in the United States Air Force stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois and served in the Air National Guard in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bob married Vickie Maddox on May 10, 1968. They would have celebrated their 50 anniversary this year. He farmed in the Bessie area before obtaining a job with Glasscock Motors in Cordell and later went to work as Assistant Administrator at Clinton Regional Hospital in Clinton. For many years he was self employed as a Computer Programmer, writing software for veterinarians and hospitals. At the time of his death he owned a boat repair shop with his son in Cordell. He enjoyed restoring his 1955 Chevy truck, loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid follower of current events because he had a deep desire for continuous learning. He loved watching the OKC Thunder with Vicki. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Darlene Nickel, and great grandson, Creed Maddox Sherrill. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, of the home; two daughters, Denise Intemann and Husband, Robin, of Pampa Texas and DeAnn Coldwell and husband, Paul, of Mustang, Oklahoma; one son Darren Nickel and wife Tracy, of Bessie, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Karissa Sherrill and husband, Vance, of Granbury, Texas; Kailee Intemann of Amarillo, Texas; three grandsons, Damon Hart of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Ryan Nickel and wife, April, of Cordell, Oklahoma and Logan Nickel of Bessie, Oklahoma. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Crew, Case and Lola Sherrill of Granburry, Texas, one sister, Eleanor Voth and husband, Melvin of Adair, Oklahoma.
