
Betty Louise Young Sutton was born on the 6th of July 1944 in Ft. Smith Arkansas. Her parents, Stanley and Lorene Young, and her younger sister Sue Young McLerran lived in several places in Oklahoma and Texas as Stanley was a bridge contractor. However, much of Betty’s youth and teenage years were spent in Dill City where she enjoyed working in the family-owned Cotton’s Café and playing basketball. Betty graduated in 1962 from Dill City High School and was married to Jerry Sutton who was serving in the US Air Force at Clinton- Sherman Air Force Base in Burns Flat. Over the years, Betty lived in numerous places around the world including returns to Dill City, Burns Flat, and Cordell. She and Jerry had two sons, Eddie and Mauri Sutton. In 1985 she moved to Mesa, Arizona where she remained for 33 years. She will be remembered as one who was resourceful, creative, loved to cook, loved to feed people, enjoyed fun times, had a sense of humor, and enjoyed visits from daughters in law Debbie and Tracie and her 10 grandchildren. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on the 27th of March 2018 at her home in Mesa at the age of 73. A graveside service will be held at North Burns Cemetery at 10am on Saturday the 26th of May 2018.
