
Emma Ruth (Graumann) Fox was born on March 8, 1922, on the family farm south of Granite, Oklahoma, the ninth of eleven children born to John and Kathrine (Meisenholder) Graumann. She lived a long and full earthly life and passed August 22, 2018, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granite, Oklahoma on April 9, 1922, and later Confirmed her faith on April 14, 1935. Emma grew up on the family farm south of Granite. She attended Liberty School and graduated on May 10, 1940. She was the Salutatorian and Secretary-Treasurer of her graduating class. During her High School years, she was active in drama, loved to sing and played sports. She and her sisters loved to sing and once sang live on KTJS, Hobart. Emma married Alvin S. Fox on December 29, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Granite. To this union, four children were born: Carol Faye, Dennis, Pamela, and Alan. They made their home on a farm SW of Mountain View, OK. As mother and wife of a farm family, she was a whirlwind of activity managing the household and joining in the seasonal rhythm of farm life. Emma was up early each morning and a hard worker, yet, she was also the chief fun maker. Family get-togethers were frequent and lively! As her children grew up and she grew older, Emma Ruth worked with the children of other families, first with Sunday School and VBS at First Lutheran in Hobart and then with Head Start program in Mountain View. Then she became a cook at the Mountain View school cafeteria and worked there for 21 years. During her life, she remained active in church and community. She loved to cook for people, surprising them with homemade cinnamon rolls and desserts, she also loved to lead Bible Studies, sew and quilt. She was a member of W.E.L.C.A, Home and County Extension Club, AARP and won numerous ribbons at the local fair. Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; infant daughter, Carol; parents, John and Kathrine Graumann and all eleven of her siblings: Theo Graumann, Buddy Graumann, Ernest Graumann, Irvin Graumann, Alice Sperle, Edwina Stock, Hilda Bogar, Clarence Graumann, Vera Keil, Cleo Seibert and David Graumann. She is survived by her children: Dennis Fox and wife Mary of OKC, Pamela Fox and Larry Linn of Yukon and Alan Fox and wife Michele of Tulsa; grandchildren: Keisha Scroggins & fiancé Travis Chancellor, Peyton Fox, Joshua Fox and wife Sarah, Tristan Fox, Michael Fox and wife Dani; great-grandchildren: Kade Scroggins, Chloe Scroggins, Aidan Fox, Conrad Fox, Autumn Fox, Marissa Chancellor and Brooklyn Chancellor as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
