Charles Fischer

Funeral services for Charles Fischer, 76, of Custer City, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Custer City. He died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at his home following a lengthy illness. Charles Eugene Fischer Sr. was born Jan. 4, 1942, to Emil and Eva Rose (Gerner) Fischer in Clinton. After his mother’s death that year, he lived with his grandparents Phillip and Otilla Gerner. He attended Custer City School thru the fifth grade. He and his sister moved home with their father and brothers and attended school at Arapaho where he graduated with the class of 1960. He was in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1962- 1970. In 1965, he married Kay Dudenhoeffer and they have made Custer City their home since 1966. He worked for Kiwash Electric Cooperative for 35 years and for Custer City Public Works Authority for several years. He was a member of the Custer City Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. He served on the board of the Custer City Senior Citizens for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and most of all spending time and being with his family. He attended the Custer City First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kay of the home; three children, Sue Anne and husband Mike Hileman of Cordell, Sandra Kay (Sandi) and her husband Robert Scouten of Yukon, and Charles Eugene (Chuck) Fischer Jr. and his wife Julie of Custer City; six grandchildren, Leanne Hileman, Courtney Scouten, Trevor Hileman, Morgan Fischer, Josh Scouten and Madison Fischer; two brothers, Emil Fred and wife Stella of Weatherford, Kenneth Dean and wife Melda of Kingfisher; his sister Loretha Elaine and her husband Ray Roper of Sayre; sister-in-law Susie Johnson of Clinton; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Burial was held at the Custer City Masonic Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. For those wishing to make donations, the family suggests people do so to the Custer City Area Fire Protection Association, the Custer City Senior Citizens Inc., or a charity of their choice.
