George Kenneth Chambers passed away on November 7th, 2018, at the age of 90 in Laguna Vista, Texas. He was born near Oakdale, Oklahoma, to Lee and Thelma Chambers.

When Kenneth was a baby, the Chambers family moved to western Oklahoma and began farming near the Washita River. The family later moved to a farm near Dill City where he attended school and helped on the farm. He tried is hand at farming before deciding that working in the oil fields was more suited to his very inde-pendent nature.

In his late teens, he became a self-taught pilot learning to fly in a single-seated, stickcontrolled airplane.

He always enjoyed taking his nephews and nieces for a ride in his plane for their first flights.

In his long career working in the oil fields, he became the drilling rig foreman for jobs in faraway places like Venezuela, Bolivia, Nigeria, Libya, and Alaska and worked on offshore rigs near Long Beach, Califor-nia. He was on a first name ba-sis with Red Adair.

When he retired from the oil fields, he became the owner and manager of a motel in Cov-ington, Louisiana.

He finally retired to South Texas where he spent most of his time fishing, working on his boat, or flying his airplane.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Thelma Chambers, two sisters and two brothers: Oleta Yar-brough, Glennis Meeks, Royce Chambers and Jake Chambers. He is survived by one sister, Laverne Lundy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
