Margie Marie Flaming

Funeral service for Margie Marie Flaming, 87-year-old Corn resident, will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Corn Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Tim Sandy officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Margie was born on November 3, 1931 in Corn, Oklahoma to Peter Bernard and Lizzie (Hoock) Thiessen and passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Weatherford. Margie was raised east of Corn on the family farm and attended rural school east of Corn, graduating from Corn High School. On November 18, 1951 Margie married Gene Flaming and they made their home in the Corn and Colony area where they raised their family. Margie worked alongside her husband on the farm and as a telephone operator while Gene was serving in the Korean Conflict. She later earned her LPN and began working for Corn Heritage Village. She retired around 2002, after working nearly 30 years, many of them serving as head of nursing. Margie enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and being outside gardening and tending to her flowers. Memorials may be made to Corn Mennonite Brethren Church.

Margie is survived by two sons, Lowell Flaming and wife Betty of Clinton, OK, and Bryan Flaming and wife Debbie of Weatherford, OK; one daughter, Marsha Sauer and husband Marty of Weatherford, OK; nine grandchildren, Mallory Flaming Shewey of Oklahoma City, Keagan Bay Gene Flaming of Auckland, New Zealand, Jarrod Welsh of Weatherford, OK and Jeremy Welsh of Canute, OK, Emberly Kincer of Yukon, OK, Ryan Luke Flaming of Clinton, OK, Tia Blanchard of Oklahoma City, OK, Tanner Sauer of Weatherford, OK, and Tiffany Burdick of Perryton, TX; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Margie is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Paul and Abe.
