
Russell George Thiessen, 64, of Cordell, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 17, 2018, at his home. He was born April 14, 1954, to Tony and Sybil (Havens) Thiessen in Cordell. Russell grew up and attended school in Cordell, graduating from Cordell High School in 1972. During his high school years he was in wrestling and finished second at state two years in a row. Russell and his father opened and owned a truck and tractor business for 10 years, then Russell began working for Cordell Public Schools. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, gardening, and loved to go fishing. Russell enjoyed telling jokes and loved being with his dogs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cordell Academic Foundation. He is survived by his brother Terry Thiessen (Lavern) of Clinton; sister Ramona Thiessen of Clinton; nephew Keith Thiessen (Ranae) of Cordell; niece Tracy Hardy (Todd) of Springhill, Tenn.; great-nieces Tiffany Thiessen of Cordell, Allee Thiessen of Weatherford, and Laci Biddy; great-nephews Brady Biddy and Tanner Hardy; and great-great-nephews Barron and Wilder. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, with the family welcoming guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell. The memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home Chapel in Cordell.
