O.H. Williams Jr.

O.H. Williams, Jr. was born in Geary, Oklahoma, on September 15, 1932, to Ormsby Haney and Lillie (Cranfill) Williams, Sr., and went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 1, 2015. O.H. was raised on the family farm north of Geary. He attended school at Geary and graduated there. In 1950, O.H. attended Oklahoma A&M where he obtained his Bachelors in Agronomy. On June 27, 1954, O.H. married Eleanor Zweiacher at the Mennonite Church in Geary. He served in the US Army and after his service, O.H. returned to Stillwater in 1956, where he finished Graduate School. He worked at the Chickasha and Mangum research stations and obtained his Masters in Agronomy in 1960. O.H. served as superintendent of the Mangum Research Station, until 1963, and then moved to Stillwater where he was the State Superintendent of the Agriculture Research Stations in Oklahoma. He and his family moved to Cordell in 1968, where he was the Area Agronomist with the Oklahoma Crop Extension Service. O.H. retired in 1992, from this position, but continued to work several years as a consultant at the Eakley Co-op and later did peanut consulting for area farmers in Beckham County. He was also a field inspector for the Oklahoma Crop Improvement Association for over 40 years. O.H. had a special calling to be a mentor to the youth, and he taught PeeWee wrestling in Cordell for numerous years. He was a Sunday school teacher for the youth, a lay leader in the Methodist Church, sang in the choir and served on several committees. O.H. served his community by being on the Cordell City Council and was Interim Mayor for a while.
