Artie Lee Salmon

Artie Lee Salmon was born June 8, 1930, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Bill and Rosie Salmon, and passed away November 2, 2015, at the age of 85 in Clinton, Oklahoma. As a young child Artie’s family moved to California. He attended school in Brawley, California. Artie joined the US Army at a young age and served in WWII, he later joined the Navy where he served in food service. After his stint in the military Artie was a welder for Lockeed Martin in Torrance, California, for many years, retiring in the mid 1980’s. On October 27, 1984, Artie married Juanita Dorsey in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved to Washita County and resided on Juanita’s family farm and then moved to Cordell in 1995. Artie enjoyed working with wood and taking care of his dog Cocco. Artie loved visiting with friends and family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. His survivors include wife Juanita of the home; daughters, Vickie Knauver and husband Skip of Roseville, California, Linda Duke of Cordell, Oklahoma, Janet Riddle of Garland, Texas, Pam Gray of Cordell, Oklahoma, and Cindy Salmon of California; sisters, Pauline Windust and husband Jack of Elsonere, California; brother, Allen Salmon and wife Kathy of Palm Springs, California; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Artie was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry Salmon; and one sister. Private memorial services for Artie Salmon will be at a later date. Services are under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell.
