April 6, 1934– Feb. 18, 2023
Leo Alvin Strobel, 88, of Canute, Oklahoma was born on April 6, 1934, South of Canute, Oklahoma to Frank Thomas and Martha Mary (Hoffman) Strobel. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Leo was born and raised two miles from where he lived in the Canute area. He farmed his entire life, and he helped build I-40 laying asphalt, and worked as a janitor for Vo-Tech in Burns Flat, Oklahoma.
Leo married Betty Jo (Pruet) on February 25, 1956 in Sayre, Oklahoma. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death on January 23, 2013. Together they moved to the Canute community where they made their home and raised their children.
Leo loved his children, grandkids and great grandkids, he especially loved the weekends when he could see “curly top” (Henley) and “the boy” (Case). Leo loved watching his grandsons farm the land, especially at cotton harvest time. He enjoyed helping Cody, Adam and Jeff pack cotton that was the highlight of his year! Leo also loved helping move farm equipment, Leo was known as “The Farm Taxi”. Leo always talked about farming, he loved to take drives to check on the progress of the cotton, checking cattle, or just to see what his grandsons were working on. He loved to call his friends, Jeannie, Roland, both Jimmy’s, JT and Ralph (Really) EVERYONE daily and really say nothing, just wanted to check on you, he’d end his call with, I don’t know anything and the next thing you heard was “click”. Leo loved telling stories to whoever would listen to him, he was great at it! In Leo’s spare time he enjoyed collecting dishes, going fishing, and baking his famous cinnamon rolls and peanut brittle. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
