Rex Crider Bond

Rex Crider Bond was born February 12, 1934, in Cordell, Oklahoma. His parents were Rex A. and Edith C. Bond. He went to be with his Lord Sunday, May 15, 2016, in Bossier City, Louisiana. Rex was a 1952 graduate of Cordell High School where he was active in all sports. He joined the United States Air Force after high school, serving for four years. Rex was stationed at Herlong, Nevada, where he met his first wife, Ruth Johnson. They married on July 23, 1955. To this union were born two children, Keith and Ellen. He returned to Oklahoma and attended SWOSU, receiving a Bachelor Degree. He was employed with Lederle and Pfizer Laboratories for 34 years as a pharmaceutical sales representative, retiring in 1994. Rex married Sylvia, July 23, 1980, in Shreveport. Over the 36 years they had together, they traveled extensively and built their home on Cross Lake. He was an avid golfer, enjoying years playing with friends. Rex was involved in overseas missions, serving his church and helping numerous people through personal recovery. In his later years, Rex and Sylvia loved to sit on their patio and admire the beauty of the home they built and enjoyed for so many years. All friends and family were asked by Rex, “is this not the most beautiful place you have ever seen?” He and Sylvia have been members of Blanchard Baptist Church for many years. Rex was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruth Johnson Bond Martina; and step-daughter Vangee Dugger Moore. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sylvia Tate Bond; son, Rex Keith Bond and fiancée Jenny Ledbetter of Cordell, Oklahoma; daughter Ellen Ruth Vanderveer and husband Curt of Cordell, Oklahoma; step-son, Rick Langham and wife Patti of Shreveport, Louisana; step-daughter, Shauna Aguirre and husband Richard of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister, Narcissa Moore and husband Harvey of Belen, New Mexico; grandchildren, Amy and Annie Vanderveer, Heidi Sanders and husband Matt, Jerad Russell and wife Jessica, Scott Langham, Jay Langham and wife Sarah, and Matt Langham, and Chad Dugger and wife Adonica; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A service celebrating the life of Rex C. Bond was conducted Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the First Baptist Chuch of Blanchard, Louisiana. Officiating was pastor Dale Sauls. Interment will be in Cordell, Oklahoma, at a later date.
