F.A. Clayton

F.A. Clayton was born July 9, 1928, on the family farm one mile west of Dill City, to George and Mary (Barnett) Clayton and passed away June 3, 2016, in Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 87. F.A. was raised on the farm and attended school in Dill City, graduating in 1946. He then attended Oklahoma State University. F.A. married the love of his life Gayle Goodfellow on October 5, 1952, and they made their home in Dill City. He enlisted in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the Army he returned home where he and his wife farmed in the Dill City area and raised their family. F.A. was a long time member of the Dill City Farmers Co-op where he served as a board member. He was also a member of the Dill City School Board. F.A.was a volunteer fire fighter on the Dill City fire department for 31 years, until his retirement. F.A. truly enjoyed and had a passion for farming and was very innovative with new ways of farming. He enjoyed playing dominos, loved to read, watch westerns and tell jokes. Family was very important to him; he enjoyed visiting with family and friends. His gentle touch and love will be missed by all. F.A. was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gayle in 2010; four brothers; and one sister. F.A. is survived by daughters, Connie Grube and husband, Steve of Dill City; Peggy Ramsey and husband, Dwayne of Bartlett, Texas; son, Richard Clayton and wife, Alison of Jessup, Maryland; seven grandchildren Melissa Higgins, Kristina Smith, Ben Grube, Nathan Grube, Cameron Clayton, Elizabeth Duper, and Sean Clayton; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends. Services for F.A. Clayton were held Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Cordell First Baptist Church. Burial was at South Burns Cemetery in Dill City. Services were under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell.
