
Frankie Laverne Slatten Latham went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 24, 2016. She was born on July 28, 1929, in Cordell, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James (Chub) Slatten and Jennie Mac (Beal) Slatten. Frankie was married to her husband and best friend of 67 years, John W. Latham of Lubbock, Texas. They were married on December 25, 1948, beside the Christmas tree in her parent’s home. She loved spending time with her family and friends, being “Gram” to her grandchildren, playing golf at Riverhill and watching golf on TV with John, traveling, reading, and attending the Slatten cousin reunions each year. All who knew her, loved her kind and joyful spirit. She attended Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. Frankie is survived by her son, Richard Latham and wife, Shirley of Abilene, Texas; daughters, Janet Drabek and husband, Joe of Lubbock, Texas; and Deborah Worstell and husband, David of Williamsburg, Virginia; four grandchildren, Spencer Latham and wife, Emily of Bonham, Texas; Allison Hillenbrand and husband, Chris of Lubbock, Texas; Tiffany Latham of Abilene, Texas; and Amber Drabek of San Antonio, Texas; and three great-grandchilden, Marcus Tomas Valfre, Jr., Jackson Wyatt Latham, and Troy Walker Latham. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Jennie Mac Slatten; brother, James Slatten and wife, Delores; and sister Betty Healy and husband, Finis Healy. A graveside memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma. Services were under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Homes in Cordell.
