
Thomas Sidney Greenwood was born February 18, 1924, in Knox City, Texas, to Thomas and Josie Greenwood and died on June 29, 2016. He was the oldest of five children and the family moved to Hale Center, Texas, when he was very young. Thomas attended schools in Hale Center and Plainview, graduating from Plainview High School in 1941. He attended and graduated from Texas Tech College in 1949, with a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering and was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Tom served as a Corpsman in the US Army as a surgical tech in WWII. He was stationed in Belgium France in a MASH unit. He married Patsy Ruth Brownd on May 26, 1946, in Abernathy. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Memorial Day weekend, 2016, in Amarillo with family and friends. Tom was a successful manager of several textile factories and enterprises. He retired in Cordell, Oklahoma, at the age of 72, in 1993. He and Pat moved to Amarillo in December, 2005, and are current members of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Pat; two daughters, Sandra Reeves and husband, Jim of Beaver, Oklahoma, and Pat Greenwood of Amarillo; two sons, Tom Greenwood and wife, Susan of Hurst, and Joe Greenwood and wife, Pam of San Angelo, Texas; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nova Dee; and three brothers, Lloyd Ray, Bernie Joe, and Harold Jay. Funeral services were held for Tom on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Abernathy. Burial followed at the Hale Center Cemetery, Hale Center, Texas. Services were under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Amarillo, Texas.
