Ruby Mildred Hayes Reuber passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the age of 103. Ruby was born on November 2, 1913, in Mountain View, Oklahoma, the daughter of Claude Elmore and Edna Pearl (McIver) Hayes. She was raised on the family farm with her sister Jessie. On April 12, 1941, in Bessie, Oklahoma, Ruby married Marvin Reuber. Marvin and Ruby were blessed with three children, Donald, Patsy, and Dennis. Ruby graduated from high school in Sentinel, Oklahoma. Following graduation, she attended Southwestern College in Weatherford, Oklahoma, graduating with her Bachelors of Education. Ruby then began touching the lives of students in Custer County Schools and Clinton Sherman Air Force Base in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. After retiring from teaching she continued her love of making a difference and helping others. Just as she had touched the lives of her students she then began touching the lives of the residents of Cordell Christian Nursing Home, where she worked until the age of 83. Over the years, she touched many lives with her sense of humor, caring ways and her example of walking with grace and the love of Jesus. Throughout her entire life Ruby lived out her faith by showing the love of Christ everywhere she went. Ruby was a member of First Baptist Church in Cordell, Oklahoma. She was always faithful to attend church and after moving to Ponca City, she joined First Baptist Church of Ponca City. Ruby and Marvin loved to spend their lunch hour together watching Days of Our Lives, which she continued to watch for many years after Marvin’s passing. Ruby shared her enjoyment of Days of Our Lives when family would visit creating a new generation of fans. She got great delight from receiving letters from loved ones and would make sure she responded to the letters she received. Ruby loved to watch baseball and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers. Reading was something Ruby enjoyed whether it was a book for enjoyment or her daily bible reading or devotional. Ruby said the secret to staying young was to keep busy. One of the ways she did that was crocheting. She crocheted many afghans, many of which she donated to Cordell Christian Nursing Home for the residents to enjoy. She also kept busy volunteering at First Baptist Clothes Closet in Cordell, Oklahoma. Ruby loved to listen to southern gospel music praising her savior. She was devoted to her family and in 2001, at the age of 87, Ruby moved from Cordell, Oklahoma, to Ponca City to be closer to her family. Ruby enjoyed spending time and attending the activities of her son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and greatgreat- grandchild. She loved getting together for birthdays and family dinners, especially if fried chicken was on the menu. Ruby loved when people joked and teased with her and she was always ready to joke and tease right back. She never hesitated to let her family know that she loved them a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; infant son, Dennis; sister, Jessie Ivey; and infant great-granddaughter, Amanda Anne. She had many other family members and friends waiting for her to join them for a great reunion in heaven. Ruby is survived by son, Donald Reuber and wife, Linda of Ponca City; daughter, Patsy Ann Coleman of Mustang, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Denise Tyson and husband, Ray and Emily Blake and husband, Chuck both of Ponca City, Robin Register and husband, Kenneth of Mustang, Oklahoma; and Ross Coleman of Mustang, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Wesley Atkins and Jessie Atkins of Ponca City, Keith Knox and Austin Knox of Carney, Oklahoma, Emma Tyson and Hunter Blake of Ponca City, and Devin Register of Mustang, Oklahoma; and great-greatgrandson, Walker Atkins. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Alliance Health Ponca City and the staff of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and Precise Home Health for the excellent care and love they showed Ruby. A special thank you to Barbara Lutt, Belva Randolph, Suzy Stevenson-Adams, and Celest Givens for touching Ruby’s life in such a special way. Also to the members of First Baptist Church who took her to church activities and visited Ruby. There was a visitation at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, 203 S. Market Street, Cordell, Oklahoma on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Graveside services and burial was at the Union - Hatchett Cemetery, Bessie, Oklahoma, on Wednesday January 11, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Ruby's homecoming celebration in Ponca City will be at the First Baptist Church Chapel, First Baptist Church, 218 S. 6th Street in Ponca City, Thursday January 12, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.

Kelso Lee Williams, 93, passed peacefully from this life to be with his Heavenly Father on January 11, 2017. He was born March 19, 1923, to James Robert and Dixie Opal Watson Williams on the family farm in Washita County, just outside of Rocky, Oklahoma. The day after graduating from high school at Rocky, Kelso enrolled in a welding school in Cordell. Kelso completed two sessions, then moved to California to work in the Kaiser Shipyards, helping build one Liberty ship a day. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served his country during WWII as a mechanic and crane operator in numerous countries in the Pacific Theater. Upon returning home to Oklahoma, he married Lillian Morris on October 26, 1946, in Cordell, Oklahoma. He earned a degree in soil science in two years and seven months, from Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, graduating in 1951. Upon graduation from college, Kelso accepted a job in Kansas as a soil conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He assisted landowners in southwestern and northwestern Kansas with erosion control and irrigation opportunities in their farm plans, and helped survey and build some of the first floodwater control projects (often known as SCS structures) in the United States. Kelso was a faithful hus- band, father, and grandfather. He and Lillian were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Becky and Pam. In Kansas, Kelso volunteered as a member of the Lions Club of Meade, as a member of the Rotary Club of Hill City, and was active in the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, member # 21784. Upon retirement, Kelso and Lillian returned home to Cordell to raise cattle, grow wheat, and farm the family land. That farming operation still includes the quarter section of land he was born on and which has now been in the family for one-hundred years. Kelso was a life-long learner; he took auto body classes at the local careertech center near Cordell, and was still taking computer lessons until last fall. He was always planning some new project. Kelso and Lillian were members of the Hobart Antique Tractor Club for many years. They loved to restore vintage tractors to showroom quality, especially the red ones (Farmalls), and then drive them in parades. Together, Kelso and Lillian also enjoyed watch and clock collecting and repair. Kelso was an accomplished woodworker and loved using his wood and metal lathes to turn and make personalized items for family and friends. He loved photography and took and organized hundreds of pictures during his lifetime. Kelso and Lillian moved from Cordell to Edmond three years ago, and were blessed to make so many new friends at Lyndale Edmond, formerly Copper Lake Estates at 15th and Kelley, Edmond. He was a life-long member of the church of Christ and a faithful servant of our Lord. Kelso was baptized in 1951, by Eldred Stevens in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was a member of Northside church of Christ in Cordell, and later, the Edmond church of Christ. Kelso loved a cappela singing, and he loved to sing and to lead singing. He understood what "shaped notes" were, and how to use them. Carolyn Parker

Carol Virginia Tate came into this world on September 5, 1924, in Mountain View, Oklahoma. She was born to Lee and Margaret Hollis Tate and big brother Kenneth. Younger brothers William and Donald followed. The Tate family lived in Mountain View until Carol was 14 years old. At that time they moved to Canute. Carol saw this as a perfect time to change her name to Carolyn, a name she liked much better. After a year in Canute, the family moved to Dill City, where Carolyn graduated from high school. Her childhood was blessed with a close family of aunts, uncles, and cousins on her mother's side, the Hollis family. This family, all good singers, had a tradition of gathering from all over Oklahoma several times a year, for many years, on Sunday afternoon and singing old hymns and gospel songs for hours, with Aunt Minnie playing rag time gospel piano. Music remained important to Carolyn all her life. In high school Carolyn met her future husband, Wayne Parker. After she graduated in 1943, Carolyn lived with three friends and worked in Oklahoma City. In late November, 1943, Carolyn boarded a train in Oklahoma City and rode for three days to Tampa, Florida, where Wayne was stationed in the Army. Wayne met her at the train station and they went to the base chapel at MacDill Field and got married. They continued to live in Florida for three years, enjoying the warm winters and eating fresh oranges off their landlord's tree. When WWII ended and Wayne finished his military service, they moved to Oklahoma City, where Carolyn worked as a civil service employee at Tinker Field and Wayne worked as a delivery man for Borden's Milk Company. During this time they saved their money, and in 1949 bought the farm west of Dill City, where they continued to live for over 65 years, until 2014. During these years, they raised three children, Diane, Jess, and Peggy, and hundreds of farm animals, as well as pets. Carolyn never met a small animal she didn't like. The family worked as a team to make a productive farm, with Carolyn taking care of the house and making it a good home. She made sure there were three meals on the table each day, got the children ready for school, took them to piano lessons, basketball practice, and other activities. In addition, she taught them to appreciate music, family, friends, gardening, animals, and in recent years, the Oklahoma City Thunder. As a young girl, Carolyn had trusted Jesus Christ as her personal savior, and the church was an important part of her life and the life of her family. At Dill City First Baptist Church, Carolyn was a leader in many areas including choir, singing in a women's trio, and serving as music director for a few months when needed. She was the director of WMU (Woman's Missionary Union) for over 30 years. When the children were grown, Carolyn followed her dream of further education by attending Western Technology Center, taking classes in acrylic painting, stained glass, and tailoring. She worked as an Avon representative while her children were at home. Then, for several years she worked in the office of Allied Telephone Company in Burns Flat, and knew the name and phone number of most everyone in western Oklahoma. Following that, she worked at Graves Tag Office and after retirement, volunteered at the Dill City Senior Citizens Center. She was a faithful volunteer in her church, and was a member of a community quilters club that met in members’ homes who fellowshipped and quilted together. She was also a member of the Washita County Oklahoma Home, Community, Education, and the Dill Work and Play Club, where she held many offices over the years, serving as Carolyn Parker chaplain of the club for a long period. Carolyn loved people, music, missions, and animals. She enjoyed her many friends, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members. She was a great cook and baker, well known to her family for her pot roast, and pies with made-from-scratch crust. Carolyn sewed most of her daughters’ clothes until they were in high school. She and Wayne loved to travel and drove through or visited 40 of the 50 states in the US. After Wayne's death in 2014, Carolyn moved to Integris Village at Cordell, where she connected with long-time friends, and made new ones. In August, 2016, she moved to Brookdale assisted living in Weatherford. In January of this year, she moved to Autumn Leaves Memory Care Residences in Oklahoma City. During these past two years, great caregivers and wonderful friends have played a meaningful part in her life. Following a fractured pelvis and several months of illness, which she met with determination and courage, Carolyn passed from this life to heaven on January 23, 2017, at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; parents, Lee and Margaret Tate; her brothers, Kenneth, William, and Don; her parents-in- law, Tad and Faye Parker; her granddaughter, Sara McGaha; and many other relatives and good friends. Carolyn is survived by her children, Diane of Little Rock, Jess and Laurie of Dill City, Peggy and John McGaha of Gretna, Nebraska; grandchildren, Emily McGaha, Abbie and Josh Cobb, and Jessica and Josh Funk, Annie and Jason Coffin, and J.R. Moler; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ryan, Aubri, Harper, Jaci, Wyatt, Braylee, William, Johnny, Keith and Jerricka; Wayne's sister, Mary and Don Graves of Yukon; eight nieces and nephews and their families; several cousins; and many friends of all ages. Viewing and visitation with family was held at Dill City First Baptist Church on Thursday, January 26, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. with family present from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Funeral services vfollowed at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in the South Burns Cemetery. Services were entrusted to Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, Elk City, Oklahoma.
