Travis Ray Teel

Travis Ray Teel was born April 10, 1922, to Willis H. and Rosa E. Kimmel Teel, in Cordell, Oklahoma. He attended school in Port, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942- 1944. Travis married Lilly Durland September 15, 1943, and to this union was born one daughter, Vickie Lou. Lilly passed away in 1949. Travis married Vena Werhan on May 17, 1951. Travis and Vena had two boys, Gary Dean and Mark Wayne. Travis farmed for more than 50 years in the Retrop, Chickasha, and Dill City areas. He also worked at the cotton compress in Chickasha for a number of years. Travis was a member of the Plains Avenue Church of Christ and served as an elder for many years. He is survived by Vena Teel of the home; daughter, Vickie Jarrell and husband, Jimmy of Stratford, Oklahoma; two sons, Gary Teel and wife, Pam of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Mark Teel of Cheyenne; daughter in-law, Helen Ann Teel of Plainview, Texas; ten grandchildren, Michelle and Greg McGuffin, Emily and Craig Hayes, Natalie and Stacy Schultz, Nicole and Justin Thompson, Christopher and Laura Jarrell, Lauren Teel, Trevor and Kelsey Teel, Evan and Jackson Lindgren, Coulter Teel and Carson Teel; 11 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Caylon Sinnett, Brant McGuffin, Barrett McGuffin, Kennedy Willingham, Kelsey Hayes, Cuinn Hayes, Kourtney Willingham, Caton Hayes, Jacob Jarrell, Nathan Jarrell, and Kyson Teel; greatgreat- grandchild, Anberlyn Sinnett; sister, Ladonia Smith; two brothers, Walter Teel and Elva Dee Teel; brother in-law, Kay Cable; and sisters-in-law, Betty Teel and Betty Durland. Travis was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two sisters, Winnie and Vera; and three brothers, Roy Lee, Marvin, and Glen. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2016, at the Plains Avenue Church of Christ, Dill City, Oklahoma. Interment followed at the South Burns Cemetery, Dill City, Oklahoma. The family received guests from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Services were under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, Cordell, Oklahoma.
