B.A. Morris, Jr, 90, Burlington, died at the Sunset Manor in Waverly on June 7, 2017. B.A. was born on July 1, 1926, near Cowden, Oklahoma, to Brooks Anderson and Emily Izetta Emerson Morris. B.A. grew up in Cowden and graduated from Cowden High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge, he lived in Oklahoma for one year, then in 1947, he moved to the Chanute, Kansas, area. Finally, in 1999, he moved to Burlington. He had been a resident of Sunset Manor for the past two years. B.A. received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Sociology from Pittsburg State University. On February 20, 1945, he married Vileta Berniece Houk, in San Bernardino, California. She died on January 15, 2003. B.A. was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard Morris, a brother, Alvin Morris, and a grandson, Lance Holloway. B.A. is survived by his sons, Robert “Gene” Morris of Nacogdoches, Texas; and Charles Morris and his wife, Diana of Burlington; a daughter, Sheila Conn and her husband, Russ of Brandon, Pennsylvania; a brother, Raymond Morris and his wife, Juanita of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, nine great - grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Jones Funeral Home, in Burlington, Kansas. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m., until service time.
