Charlotte Jean Schmidt

Charlotte Jean Schmidt,79, went to her heavenly home after a brief battle with cancer, January 30, 2018 with family by her side. She was born October 20, 1938 to Albert and Clara (Chadd) Knauf on the family farm near Cordell. It was her grandfather who declared her name could be Charlotte. She grew up in Cordell, graduating from Cordell High School in 1956. Charlotte married Earl Schmidt on February 1, 1957, at the First United Methodist Church in Cordell, and passed away 2 days short of their 61st wedding anniversary. To this marriage, 3 daughters were born. Charlotte was a very talented artist, always creating colorful designs, whether in her paintings, her quilts or her flower gardens. She was an active member of the Herold Mennonite Church. In Women in Mission, she sewed dozens of quilts and hundreds of cloth bags for health or school kits for the mission field. Her survivors include, husband, Earl Schmidt of the home, daughters, Rhonda Schmidt of Cordell, Oklahoma, Connie Broadhurst of Yukon, Oklahoma, Deborah Henderson and husband Craig of Virginia. She is also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews who will always have great memories of spending summers with Aunt Charlotte. Celebration of her Life was held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:30 a.m., at the Herold Mennonite Church, Bessie, Oklahoma under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, Cordell, Oklahoma
