Edna Dowdy, 102, passed from this life on February 9, 2018. She was born March 21, 1915 to Carrick and Sally (McElroy) Scott near Cowden, Oklahoma. Edna was raised on a farm with three sisters and four brothers. She attended Anchor School through the eighth grade and played basketball. She then went to Alfalfa School through the tenth grade. Edna met and married the love of her life, Gene Dowdy on March 18, 1933. They were married for 71 years. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2004. She was a loving and caring mother to their only son Bobbie. He had M.S. for the last seven years of his life and she took total care of him. Edna was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. She was in the Home Extension Club for years and won many ribbons at the County Fair for crocheted flowers and homemade pies. Her yard was beautiful and she enjoyed working with her flowers. Edna spent many years in the home of her nephew, Kenneth and his wife Mary Ann Boggs, for which she was very grateful. She was a kind, beautiful, and loving lady with a smile that would light up a room. Edna was an inspiration to all. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Edna was preceded in death by her husband; Gene Dowdy and son; Bobbie Dowdy. Visitation was from 9:00 a.m., ~ 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell, Oklahoma. Chapel Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell, Oklahoma. Interment was at Sappington Chapel Cemetery in Cowden, Oklahoma.
