Darrell Dixon

Darrell Dixon, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018, in Cordell, Oklahoma at the age of 66. Darrell was born January 1, 1952, in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Joe and Thelma (Vanderveer) Dixon. Darrell was raised on a farm southeast of Dill City, Oklahoma and attended Dill City Schools where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America chapter. He showed cattle and played sports, graduating in 1971. He married Deborah Miller in 1972 in Cordell, Oklahoma and to this union they had three sons. Darrell served in the United States Army in an artillery division during the Vietnam War. Darrell was a lifelong hot rod enthusiast and loved tinkering and building on them. Darrell also owned and operated Dodgers Diesel Service in Cordell, Oklahoma for many years and operated a trucking company. He married Tonjua Holman in 1977 and to this union they had one daughter. Darrell enjoyed spending time visiting with friends and was a regular at the Right Here coffee crowd. He attended the First Born Church in Clinton, Oklahoma and loved his church and church family very much. In 1998 Darrell married Geneva McClellan in Las Vegas, Nevada. Darrell enjoyed camping with his family, going to Colorado, Nebraska, around Oklahoma and even short overnight trips out to the farm. Darrell is preceded in death by his parents and wife Geneva. He is survived by three sons, Bobby Dixon and wife Angela, Scott Dixon and wife Lora of Rocky, Oklahoma, Cory Dixon and wife Hydee of Fremont, NE. One daughter, Suzzi Dixon of Clinton, Oklahoma. Two step sons, Wesley Atteberry and Becky Krober of Gotebo, Oklahoma and Richard Atteberry and wife Brittany of Chester, Oklahoma. Darrell is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Brittany, Kylse, Shyann, Lexis, Shane, Makenze, Toby, Blake, Colin, John, and Dalton. One Brother Larry Dixon and wife Rose of Humble, Texas and sister JoAnn Oliver and husband Bill of Norman, Oklahoma and a host of dear friends. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday February, 12, 2018 at the 4th and College Street Church of Christ in Cordell, Oklahoma under the direction of Kiehn-Varner Funeral Home.
