83, of Yukon
John Calvin McCornack, son of Christola Stutzman McCornack and Charles Robert McCornack, was born on Feb. 7, 1937, on a cotton farm near Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. He died on May 23, 2020 at Spanish Cove in Yukon. A graduate of Cloud Chief High School, John was a scholar, a star basketball player, and served as Washita County 4-H President for 2 years.
John was trained as an engineer, receiving degrees from Oklahoma State University and Bradley University. He was employed by Caterpillar in Peoria, Ill., for 37 years. There he worked in advanced engine development specializing in turbochargers. His work took him to Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and Russia.
John married the love of his life, Elaine McNatt, on July 9, 1960. John and Elaine were members of the United Methodist Church.
With his retirement in 1996, John moved to Yukon. John published 20 books on family genealogy. His interests include stock investing, photography, designing web pages, writing poetry, collecting coffee cream lids, following the OKC Thunder, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and the Oklahoma Sooners.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine McCornack of Spanish Cove in Yukon; his daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Robert Enos of Oklahoma City; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sheila McCornack of Aurora, Ill.; his granddaughter, Mary Enos of Norman; his sister Clara Nicholson of Cloud Chief; and his brother and sisterin-law Robert and Diane McCornack of Ringling.
John was always a very loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather who took pride in his family. He was kind and friendly to everyone he met. He was well loved and will be missed tremendously.
There will be a private memorial service for the family at a later date.
